Yet again very poor service, was told the first time there was problems that it was a one off, thought I would try again, what a mistake that was.

Ordered parts on Sunday and paid for a next day delivery, received a call saying 2 items out of stock that would be in Tuesday and sent for delivery on Wednesday with the stock items being delivered on Tuesday.

Sat here all day Tuesday nothing, just spoke to customer services and nothing has been sent out and the other bits haven't come in. Without the turbo snap ring I can't do anything.

But they have refunded my next day charge, whoopee.

Anyone else have this problem with them?

Yup, ordered and paid for a set of defender decals. After a week phoned to enquire where my order was, was told they were out of stock and they were looking to find a new supplier but couldn't tell me when they would have them.
So they had my fifty quid and didn't even consider refunding me. It took a further two phone calls before they gave me my money back.
They won't be getting any more of my cash, I've heard they take payment for out of stock items and keep fobbing you off with a delivery date.

Personally I always buy stuff over the counter as I've had bad service in the past from paddocks and simmonites. I can see if I can call in there tomorrow for you if that helps

Bought a lot of parts from Craddocks and had a few minor issues with them.

Had one order where they failed to tell me some parts were on back order, so there was a delay in it arriving.
A set of Defender decals arrived squashed flat but they sent replacements after a phone call. They also supplied a bonnet soundproofing mat for my TD5 when it only fits the 300tdi.

But that was refunded too, minus the postage.

Yes I am a bit disappointed to be honest, I have been told that they will let me know when to expect the snap ring for the turbo but I am not holding my breath for that.

If something isn't going to be in stock it is only polite to let a customer know not keep them guessing.

Any one know if it is safe to re-use a snap ring for a turbo?

in the last two years i've had nothing but excellent service from paddocks. for example, i placed an order last night knowing some of the parts weren't in stock as they were land rover parts and it stated 1-2 days extra. i still got the usual call this morning just to confirm this. on the odd occasion there is a short or incorrect shipment they always put it right and overnight the correct parts where possible and tell me to keep the incorrect ones.

i also bought a britpart fuel tank for my 90 and they have now changed it under warranty three times without question.

i've dealt with craddocks twice now, both orders were messed up and it took almost 10 weeks to sort one of them out.

At least it isn't just me then, I will certainly think twice about ordering from them in the future. With all of the years service behind them you would think they could get it right by now. lol.

It sounds like there was a stock problem.. it happens deal with it.... They refunded you...

Yes there is a problem and it is communication, why say they are sending something and not bother, then fabricate the truth of when the items are arriving.

I had a phone message saying that the items that they had would be delivered yesterday, waited in all day and it wasn't until I phoned them that they said it hadn't been sent, even though I paid extra for the next day delivery.

From the experience others have had on here it will take them forever to issue the refund, and who knows when the other bits will arrive.

I work in customer service and understand that not everything can be in stock all the time, but why sell something they haven't got without telling you before they take the money, that way you can make an informed choice of if you want to buy from somewhere else instead of trying to get an eta for the item or a refund?

Worst one I have dealt with was Barry 4x4, I ordered an 100 amp alternator from them. It arrived a couple of days later, but was a standard 65A alternator for a 200tdi, so the V shaped belt.

I know messages are easier than a phone convo to take the wrong way, but the guy didn't even apologise and suggested that I had indeed got the right alternator. Then wouldn't send me a new one until they had theirs back, but their collection service failed to collect 2 days in a row after I had been waiting in. No idea what the problem was, I suspect he hadn't arranged it correctly. Both times I had to chase him up rather than him coming to me.

In the end I got passed over to a woman (probably cos I was starting to get annoyed) who was actually very apologetic and helpful who sorted it all out straight away.

Was a good alternator though, nicely made!

They are all give or take the same to be honest.

The issue is they don't all have all the parts in stock so they send out for a lot, they have very poor communications and don't notify you properly when things are delayed or even when things get sent out and generally no one knows whats going on. If I had a pound for every time I wasted a day in the house, trapped, waiting for LR parts to arrive that then don't show, only for them to show when I don't expect them but miss them because I went out to the garage for 1 minute...

They have a captive audience so they get away with it and people continue to spend fortunes with them so they won't be forced to change. All I can suggest is that once you have your parts you write a letter, we all write letters (email and phone calls don't count) and inform them of the poor service. Once they get a load of these they might take heed for a week or two.

Island 4x4 are pretty damned good.
Website not as good as p/craddocks

Seconded

Paddocks are fine if all is well but rubbish when its not.

Island seem good on both counts and the free delivery arrives the next day every time. They get my money now.

Yep, island are good, they mucked up once, but let me keep the part that was sent in error.

I haven't found paddocks to be too bad, they forgot to send me something once, and send it out straight away no questions asked.

Craddocks obviously don't like people emailing them about there poor service, below is the reply I have had, nothing about the damaged or incorrect items they have sent.

Just cancel the order as I am obviously not some one a customer they want.

Hello Mr Goodhead,

Thank you for your email,

I have checked with our mail order department and nothing has left today, The two items you are waiting for are backordered and have been cancelled, you have been issued a full refund which can take up to 5 – 7 working days to show on your bank account.

Best Regards.
