200 and 300 TDi use a timing belt (already told yer that) which can't be "checked" as such. it should be replaced every 72k (or 60k if yer nervous).

gotcha, belt not chain, not checkable, change every 60k, ish.reckon i'm gonna look into gettin mine changed...bit of a nervous nigel!
