About a month go I had a few spurious alarm activations on my 2000 4.6 P38. Also, the BECM "forgot" the engine unimobilasation code! A new, bigger, battery and an amplifier on the remote receiver seem to have cured things (low battery and RF interference suspected).
However, now, when I lock or unlock the doors, or the alarm goes off, the side and tail lights flash rather than the indicators! I am thinking that the BECM may think its a North American model! I have heard that BECM faults often manifest themselves as language changes on the dash display, with French Canadian being popular! Mine is still in English and it still tells me the "Bonnet" is open, I guess I would know for sure if it said "Hood"
I'm not paticularly worried about the current "featue", just that it might be a portent of worse to come!
