Ok boys n' girls she is not fixed :(
The faults she left me with last year, are still showing.
Faults :
Key won't turn more than a couple of mm. Takes several attempts before she finally allows me to turn key, to start ignition.
Electrics won't play on start up, includes but not limited to, memory settings for seats & telescoping steering wheel*, electric windows, heated seats, EAS**, stereo.
Power Steering doesn't work immediately.
* seats and telescoping will work manually
** EAS either pings up with Inactive, or, no warning but control dial has no lights.

Actions taken:
Sent to garage , garage did following to remedy above
New key barrel
New battery

Got her back drove her home. Within a couple of weeks issues start showing again. I don't do a lot of mileage, so checked with garage was it a strong enough battery. Told yes.
So we get to the start of this thread.
Yesterday, new alternator and new battery. All problems go away.
Today, all are back, with a vengeance.
New problem with Stereo Head Unit: Menu is not allowing access to On-board Computer option.
Music is intermittently not playing.

I still can't get to usual garage, so trying to resolve from here.
I was bouncing ideas with local guy and he has suggested key issues might be some type of lock on brake pedal, not picking up a signal? Is this a possibility?
As for the rest of the issue anyone got any ideas?
@Henry_b , @kds, @backinblack , @Saint.V8 , @holidaychicken and @ anyone else, apologies if I missed you off list :)
Bugger ! Any thoughts on BCU @backinblack @Saint.V8 @holidaychicken ?

Regarding your key issue, how old is the battery in your key? Within the steering wheel column ECM there is a small electromagnetic plunger that can fail.

The electrical issues do seem BCM related, any dampness Moisture in the BCU will wreck havoc, it is under the passenger seat IIRC

are your carpets dry?

Going back to Battery for a mo, did you get your new multimeter? as you know short journeys won't charge it no matter how big the battery is.
Just wondering if you have a battery drain since it was ok for a while.

Not played with BCU's yet but as you and @Henry_b say, could be moisture related. I would still like to see battery voltage though, had lots of issues with Disco 2 when battery was low and diags and local indi said xyz switch, TPS, ECU's, even though the car started on the button. Turned out to be low voltage on the ECU's.

I've bought new batteries for keys, just in case.
Carpets are dry. Although the valeter did attend when she was in garage BUT issues present before , as theyvare the issues she went away with.
Just a thought re key, when I upgraded mine to a flip key mine would`nt turn first time had to make sure the chip in the key was located near the switch or no go.
Checked and double checked the chip. It is where it was when key came out of factory.

No multimeter, as seller out of stock. Couldn't make it up.
Brand new battery yesterday, with brand new alternator.
Wasn't really ok. I don't drive far or often, but a decent battery shouldn't give up in a week. Drove back from garage, all ok. Sat for around a week and issues started. Spoke to garage, arranged to take her back, for that and a couple of other things not done correctly. Nice new lockdown, means can't take her to them. As it is not something they can do whilst I wait.
IMO the ignition picks up the transponder in the key which does not require a battery. I could be wrong though.
Dunno.

Battery all ok yesterday. Battery which was replaced on 11.8 BUT alternator was knackered.
New alternator, new battery. Jumped in her turned key, first time, everything worked. Headed home, stopped at shop, 5 miles from guy who changed alternator and battery. Jumped back in and issues back.

Was new battery fully charged before fitting or had it been sat on a shelf for a while? you said it was fitted then drove home and left for a week so if it was a bit low when fitted.
Is it a TD6 with FBH? since I got my FBH working the battery is taking a hammering on short trips.
Sorry to keep banging on about the battery but we all know what problems they can cause :(

Fully charged before fitting. Yes TD6 with FBH.
You're preaching to the converted about battery :(

P.s first new battery left for a week after nice long drive home. This nice new battery fited fully charged yesterday. Drove 5 miles before issues returned

Was first new battery fitted in summer when FBH wouldn't have kicked in? I had the fuse pulled on mine and it's only since I got it working and replaced the fuse that mine is suffering.
Just thinking have your issues started since the cold weather started.

Yes more daft questions

No such thing as daft question with L322.
Nope last new battery fitted at start of winter. FBH on mine has always worked, and not caused issues through all years of ownership. Other things have but not FBH o_O
Issues were there last year. She went to garage in autumn to have them fixed. Came back ,in winter, issues back.

Are ALL the ground points good ? Don't know how many there are, but with new battery & alternator it should be better. A bad ground somewhere will cause random stuff as well.

+1 on few miles per day is not enough. Most cars need 5-10 miles just to replenish the starting load properly.

Grounds are all good.
Few miles = 36 miles to go to local shop ;) My few miles are few but not as few as some :)
Got to add, before the first battery fiasco, I could deploy for 3-4 months at a time. Come home and start her. So left sitting for ten days should not affect battery. Not saying does not, just saying should not.

could it be a battery drain from something else?
Have to get that checked, so answer is don't know
However. Spoke to guy at garage who usually does work and he thinks the ignition issue may be read coil. So putting diagnostics on next week when local guy gets a chance.
Nice new issue appeared out of nowhere today. Replacement head unit put in , during her long visit to garage last year. No issues , played as should. Battery changed a couple of days ago , all ok........
Today I get out switch her off, go do a few things. Come back and she wants a code to give full function. I can still have music but nothing else. Two problems with that, I do not have a code, and Land Rover have no code registered to my vehicle, the other is, even if they did, this is not the stereo for this vehicle. I do not know registration of vehicle it came out of.
Ahhhhh Range Rovers gotta love em ;)
