Well the black smoke cleared by itself, still get a chuff when accelerating if cold but when hot its fine.
Today i cleaned out the sedimentor, plenty of crap but made no difference.
Next i checked the tappets and OMG They either have not been set for 10 of its 16 years or were set by an arsehole.
The gap is supposed to be 0.2mm but i found them varying from 0.3 to 0.8mm:doh:, this would make the valves open late and close early, just what you dont want.
Test drive shows much improved performancce, may or may not be normal now but at least she now pulls uphill in 2nd and 3rd quite well, seems to rev easier too and i can even hear the turbo whistle as it spools up now which was missing before.
Hopefully that will do it for now and i can get on with fixing all the problems
