Hi All,

I have something that is bugging me just now and I would like to get to the bottom of it with your help if possible.

I received the V5 back for my Series 2a this week and had her in for mot today, in Special notes section 3. it says
1. WAS REGISTERED AND/OR USED. MANUFACTURED DATE UNKNOWN, the date of first registration was 18-07-1969, mot chap said that it looks like it might be ex MOD.

Is there a way I can find out?

Only time I have seen anything in this section was when I bought my Astra after someone rear ended it and it said basically that it was accident damaged.

Hope someone can help as it would be good to know

The rear crossmember is plain steel, no holes, she was converted to galvernised chassis around 10 years ago I believe, I wondered if it was just because she was on new chassis, could it be that?

what chassis number is on the v5, if its a genuine land rover one that should give you the build date and someone in one of the military vehicle outfits might be able to tell you if it served.

someone gave me the military history on my series 1, which they got from someone called john mastrangelo but it was so long ago I can't remember where he was

The shape of the military cross member is different to the civvy version, not much help if it's a new chassis though as it could be either.

All front lights are new, dont know what type was on previous.
I have just changed the rear lights for the ones with the reg light at the bottom, they were just standard Land Rover units.

All I can remember about Chassis number off hand is it is all numbers apart from the last unit is G

Are the indicators/ sidelights vertical at the front or horizontal across the top? I think they were vertical on the MoD ones but not sure if it was exclusively mod

I dont know if this is going to work as I am not good with computors.
This is Olly named by my 5yo Daughter Maisy.

I dont know when but it has had new doors, rear door still has original hinges

others will know better, but it looks more series3 to me with a 2a grill and defender mirrors.

take a pic of the interior, s3 is plastic, like a defender.. 2a is all metal

Yes, it has a series three bulk head and bonnet, the rest I have been told is original panels, she passed mot yesterday with two advisories, rear leaf springs have slight wear in shackle pins and or bushes

+ wings and doors and missing the bit under the sides.. there's not that many panels left! :D

it looks very nice and clean :)

The very last 2a's had all synchro boxes during the changeover I think. They had lights on the wings too so that could explain the grille (although wings have obv been changed). The bulkhead would always have been the older metal one though..

Is it a 1971?
