Yeah my other half knows the place.

I will have me disco there too but it's no fender, I like the disco but have a huge soft spot for a fender. I was looking at snorkels and some proper tyres for the disco the other day :p. has your disco got the air suspension? I was reading in LRM that some of the entry level models and some of the commercials didn't have it. I was under the impression they all had it, I'm thinking of chopping mine in at the end of the year for something else. Maybe another disco or possibly something else landy based haha.

Yeah it has rear air suspension - the commercial is just a base model converted... it starts life as a normal Disco!

Starting to think about adding rear seats tbh... kids will probably come along in a year or two so may need the space. (that'll be post Morocco though)

I have the series to appease my soft spot for proper Land Rovers... but... the Disco offers a practical day car whilst also being suitable for things like Morocco :D

Get a space frame for it and build a proper off roader? I was so tempted to do that when i cut up my old D1...:D

They are amazing vehicles mate, the fender just looks amazing that's my love/soft spot :). The discos are by far the best most practical new car on the market. I wouldn't want anything else really it's more that I do a fair few miles so don't want to keep it too long and lose loads of money. Out of interest what mpg do you get out the 2.7? I'm getting around 400 miles to a full tank.

I thought all the disco 3's and 4's had the air suspension and terrain response. Children are probably on the cards for me to however I have the 7 seater anyway. Defo won't be having that many kids tho haha. Have you done much off roading with yours? I have done a few green lanes but again don't want to ruin it.

Space frame what? The fender? I don't much like the idea of taking away from the true base vehicle, like my fender is norm chassis and body but all the extras I wanted :) some people moan that its over spec-ed etc but i love it and love the way it looks, couldn't care less what they think haha and it will go anywhere they can ;)

I get 500 a tank - normally between 31 and 35 mpg - purely motorway can get it a bit higher (hit 39.5 the other day!)

Sorry was thinking D1 for the space frame idea.. .you probably wouldn't want to start chopping a D3 to bits!

The 'fender is a great vehicle, I learnt to drive in one and had it for the first 3 years of my driving life, but, the series has a certain quirkiness to it i love! I imagine we'll end up with a 'fender again at some stage in the future, but, for now we're happy with the series.

Yeah I think that's why I love the defender so much, it was my first car and I haven't ever sold it. Just grown a proper part of the family haha. I do love the series mate. I'm looking to buy one now as a project, they are Defo quirky and just cool. Will probably be my next project after the trip.

Yeah putting a new disco on a space frame would be interesting haha. Really 500 a tank :/ mine hits 30mpg and I'm impressed lol my engine is slightly bigger but surely that wouldn't make to much difference. Are you driving at 70etc? I'm a little heavy footed and I guess my driving is more a mix of motorway and B roads.

All looks ok for the pub btw. I get back on the 11th not the 12 so no excuses.

Just been offered free tickets to the isle of white festival so I won't be able to make it now :( unless you guys are free on the Wednesday instead?

errm... yes... 70... although the first number normally looks more like a 8 :lalala:

I try to keep it nearer the 70 mark though!

I do the A5 to MK quite a bit too, so, 30 through Toaster but otherwise ranging from 50 - 70

Town driving kills it mind. Or putting the rack on. Not done enough towing of big stuff to work that one out yet.

Ok... lets move it to the following Thursday as Thursday's work well for me...

Pub meet is 20th June at 19:30 at err... the pub i linked to before

Excellent, I've contacted one of my other friends who is coming and he's hoping to come up too.

I'll see is Mark L can make it too.

Excellent.

Just bought my Yellow top... after reading round, etc. then realising the space I have, I didn't have that much choice but to go with a yellow top!

The yellow tops get a fair bit of stick on here from people but I have had 2 in my motor for about 10yrs and only now have they gone to shi* i think I may get red tops next but only to mix things up :) I think the yellows where awesome. What tyres are you running on the disco mate? I'm thinking of some all terrains for mine, I know people will reckoned Bf's but I have those on the fender (MT's) and again wanted to try something new on the disco.

I've chose a set of Cooper Discoverer STTs for the trip to Morocco.
Only driven on road with them up to now, but more than impressed so far.

You will love them:D Do not be afarid to air down if you are is sand.(20psi) The tread will dig you in, plus side they have Kevlar side walls. Should get 60-70k miles out of them

Haha my chosen tyres for morocco are 35 x 12.5 bf Goodrich mk2's :) They are on the defender but was looking to put a set of AT's on me disco which tbh is mainly used on the motorway. But does see the lanes and also fields etc so would be a worthy purchase. Pretty sure AT's would also be cheaper than the now nearly bald factory standard ones
