We dont know TBH.
But they dont really seem to make it a staple on the menu. Pigs/Chickens are easier to keep ;). They dont seem to keep "meat" cows, some dairy cows are around.
Lamb is not cheap either for some reason I dont understand as there is a load of sheep around:vb-confused2:.
Which is why we go and pick a lamb for the frezzer;)

But to get a good bit at an eatery is always expensive here(relative to other meats).

But When I or M want a good steak we know where to go. The Fish resturant in the big town do a mean steak and now the new place:).

Mutton is more popular in Europe, dunno why, maybe it's a leftover thing from the cull at year end before Winter ...

Ooops! my AM post was still in the tray and not actually posted. My bad.
Went with the Mrs. to see the MIL in hospital.
Poor old gal is still as loopy as they come, was trying to pull her cannula out and complaining her leg itches.
The dressing looked awful (soiled & dirty). We were told it was due for a change this evening.
The MIL keeps asking to come/go home and we keep having to say "you can't". :(

I would have thought with infections thay would change the dressing on a regular basis ??

I have no problem with mutton (or any meat cooked right).
But yes there is a cull at the end of season that includes goat so local stews can be a bit of a mix 🤔.

Are the sheep thay have more like goats ? Thay are here black and white hairy and long legged, thay call them mounting sheep a local breed for this area we grow mint just for them 😊

It's the same here also Stan I have given up ordering it unless I have a saw in my pocket all red meat is cooked till it's falling apart or bashed to death,
That's why we mainly eat game , but the sea food is first class,
A few years ago a MacDonald opened not far from us the fist one a month past and it closed saying the meat here was substandard, things are getting better now with joining the EU
I'd be flipped then, as I don't eat game, just don't like the taste, and I am not really into fish, especially as W is allergic to it.
But I can eat chicken until they come home to roost!! 🤣 🤣 🤣
