Find oot which netwurk provider yer using. o2, ee, 3 or vodafone. Go on their web site and look at the map of signal coverage. It will be a map of what looks like a rainy day. Zoom in to see what signal strenth yer got.I wish you'd tell that to my phone cos as soon as October came around it stopped working. I had been warned this would happen.
It does still send texts. But I'm pretty sure it will still work in France.
It would work in the UK if I had "4g calling" compatible, also known as VoLTE, but I don't. According to "g" they are switching it off area by area, I have just failed to be able to check it using my mobile as for some reason it doesn't accept my postcode.
I'll have another look online on my lappy, to see if I can check my area that way, but to put it simply, I stand in my garden where we get best signals and I cannot get one.
Just done it, This is what it said.
"Yes – Excellent service
Great news - 4G is in your area. If your device is 4G calling compatible, you'll have excellent 4G coverage for calls, texts, and mobile internet."
and having checked my device I know it isn't calling compatible, which they have been telling me for months now.
Mine is an Alcatel 3V 5099Y

Text messages are on 2g. It is true 3g is being switched oft to make room for 5g by reusing the frequencies. But that dun't mean 4g won't wurk where yer gottid signal.

Yer dun't have 4g coverage. Move into it and yer gerrit.
