It's the bumper. Modern cars have plastic bumpers. Plastic doesn't rust and it acts as a crumple zone to absorb impact in the event of a crash.
This was only ever funny when vagrant posted it. I miss vagrant. He was funny. Probably still is. It's a shame he chose to leave.

I sent him a pm recently but haven't got a response. I knew he'd gone quiet but didn't realise he'd left. If it helps... it weren't a digga it was a telehandler (putting aside the fact yer got bollocked fer digging holes int floor because yer can't drive).
