Morning all, the local stream has burst its banks but it's clear and dry out now

It's still very dark 'ere, and it's wet and I've no need to tell you all where the wee dog is. The big un slumbers on in 'is bed.

Us boys be out uv the scratcher an duck eggses be scrimbled. Scrimbled duck eggses be best breakfust on planet. Us boys be betterer than Chuck Norris smornin.

Clear an cold right now but fundy storms promised for later so tratter will get a rinse.
Burpday lunch at our favourite pub later, probly followed by a snooze in front of the fire.

Ah payd me credit card yestarday. Eye also connectid me fone charga ter me battery wrong un it be not wurkin. So eye be guttid until eye checked the fuse eye wired int series un it be blown. Replaced un it be wurkin ergen. Eye be appi me charga beer live ergen.

Was woken in the night by the gentle rumbling sound of really heavy rain, so have overslept this morning.

I just went up to the workshop and the roof has failed in three places fortunately I keep everything covered up so the damage is minimal. Looks like I am going to have to get up there and re felt it. Still, I built it in 2004 so it's done quite well

Strange that as the same happened here in the west. At about 1am I thought the bungalow was going to get blown away!

What is it with dogs? Or at least my dog...
My little Jack has a thing about her left ankle, there's no injury, or external issue I can see, but for a month now she keeps chewing it.
She gets the cone of shame for a week, all good, cone comes off, all good, then she sneaks off and back to square one!
Vet thought she might be allergic to the new food I got and which she loves, but it's not that (80 quid later, grrr).
Next idea is arthritis or rheumatism, she's seven in the summer. Her weight and physique are ideal.
Her clonking around the house in a lampshade is saddening.
Any thoughts peeps?

Chewing feet, or tail can be boredom, habit from a genuine wound etc. I personally think it can be doggy OCD too
Front or back foot? Going up and down stairs can wreak havoc with dogs joints, they're not made for it. Have you tried putting something nasty on it, one is healed? Mustard, chilli etc

Took the D2 out for a drive around..

Love the welsh countryside, especially the sheeps roaming around without any kind of separation from the roads



And unlike the RR the D2's heater works the radio too!!

back to boring work tomorra!

Got a few things to strip and a D3 and L322 in both for major engine work.

L322 needs a new set of chains and tensioners.
D3 needs the EGR's doing, which isn't really major, but a right faff!

Have you checked between the toes and pads for seeds, pine needles, grass stalks? It only takes a minute thing to annoy the dog. Don't believe the irritation has to be where he is chewing either. Recently, I was aware that my 'big' one had been constantly scratching at his side, in fact both sides at different times. I checked and doubly checked but could not see anything. My groomer also looked but neither could see anything and we both assumed it was mites from the long grasses on the common where we always walk. Then after several months of this, it got to the point where he would not let me brush the area, followed closely by me not being allowed to look at it! One evening when he was sleeping (always goes upside down), I thought I saw a knot of the under coat hair on his penis so I asked my groomer if she would cut it out. Dog suitably muzzled, she shaved the area and low and behold, he had an enormous sore on the side of his penis which the hair knot had 'welded' on to. I treated it with an antiseptic cream over the weekend before giving in and taking him to the vet to deal with - I did not fancy getting his teeth sunk into me! Amusingly, I suggested to the vet that he did not try to touch the dog but instead, if I lifted the two front feet up to the table and the vet went to the other side of the table and got down on the floor he would get a good look. The dog, not seeing anything happening was angelic and the vet did not touch it at all. He came up from the floor and said 'that penis is very, very sore, poor dog', real man to man sympathy!

A large dose of antibiotics was given as a hope that this would reduce the swelling and get rid of the infection. By this time the penis was at least four times the normal size! If it had not started to clear the infection then it was going to have to be a knife job - poor dog. Fortunately, the antibiotic did start to work and slowly he began to allow me to look. After 5 weeks, it now looks as if it has completely healed.
The moral of this story is that the 'irritant' is not always where the dog is scratching! In Zebo's case, it was just too sore to scratch the penis or even anywhere near it, so he scratched his side!
