What you said made perfect sense but I had a look, you would not believe how far I had to dig to check that .... you were right!
also thinking about it, very few plates woulfd have been enough alike to make casting a sensible proposition.

Luckily no.Are thay the wood ants ? We get some horrendous nests in the Forrest some over a meter high and the lines of ants foraging can stretch for Klms

We are catching them in metal bottle screw caps, one for 1 litre fruit juice. a small dollop of jam in the middle surrounded by water. Also we wathci to see where they enter and put ant powder there.
I have suggested to W that take all the kick boards off in the kitchen to see what is going on but so far it has fallen on deaf ears.
The only things that go out via the floor are one waste pipe and two water pipes. Nothing goes through the walls. And they pipes were all cemented over when the house was built. So it is a mystery to us.

Well what a day, and it ain'nt over yet.
In order to work on the Pluriel I had to mow the "car park"
In order to mow the car park, I had to fix the brushcutter/mulcher.
Once fixed I had to find the abandoned petrol can in the wilderness, finally found but the filler neck thingy had mud in it. Oh poop, so sourced another one.
Filled, used, then it was time for lunch. (It took a whole tank of fuel, either our car park is bigger than I thought or my machine is using a lot more fuel than it used to!)
(W gave me a very nice and touching card this a.m. I still have to source one. Never mind, I had Brownie points in by being massively early both for Xmas and her buthday!)
Lunch over, cars were moved around so that I could place the Pluriel where I could work on it.
Shade was manufactured, Disco well placed as most tools are in the back of it.
Went to jack it up, jack went so far and no further. how infuriating was that? I thought I had seen to it before leaving Blighty as it had a habit of leaking in the back of the Disco. Seems I took too much oil out of it.
Hunt all over for the jack oil, finally find it.
Take filler plug out, cannae see the pralm!
Watch YouToobs to try and suss it, one of which was totally hilarious, I switched off after about 2 minutes when it was obvious the eejit making it hadn't a clue, couldn't even decide which was the place to top it up in!!
Hunted for a funnel small enough, couldn't find one.
Ran the oil down a small screwdriver which acted pretty well, not much mess. Faffed around with it until it seemed OK. Cleared up then had another go.
Worked this time.
Up on axle stands, "Ok, where do we go from here?"
Took off all the connectors and screws I could find that seemed to be holding the front bumper/valance to the rest of it. Found one bolt whose fitting was just going round and round, ah well.
Took the inner wing liner off the side where the problem is, lucky I bring all sorts of fancy tools with me for unclipping/unplugging those stoopid plassy clip fings.
Peered under and saw two likely bolts that might need undoing. First one was rusty as flip, didn't want to sheer it off so took a long time working it back and forth with the occasional application of WD. It came out intact in the end.
Then realised I'd have to take the wheel off to get the other bolt out, so did that.
Other bolt came loose and all of a sud..... The front panel moved, eureka, I could see the three bolts that held the headlamp unit in place. They undid in a teeny moment and HEY-HEY, the blinking thing is out!!
Car cover back on, sun umbrella put away.
Tidied up, came in and got a beer on!
What a performance. There were times when I swore a little and wondered if it was in fact possible.
So the fixing still has to be done, but I am a lot more optimistic now.
I also noticed a piece of kit under the other side that was hanging on by the bits of loom it is connected to. No idea why as only about twice has anyone other than me worked on the car, ever, but I was pleased to find it and therefore be able to perform the "one stitch in time saves 9", number! Hain't done it yet but it will be done.
Champagne is on ice as today is our reel annieversary!!

I am happy to report that there may in fact be a god of Karma.
My wife went to see her mother at the hospital today and the old gal was well out of it.
Very confused and not good at all.
But, it transpires that the carp BIL & his missus had visited her today with some "news".
The car (dayvan) he bullied her into parting with £12k for has "been hit by something" (yay! there is a god, I hope it is a write-off).
But instead of claiming off a 3rd party or indeed on his own insurance he brings this news to his mother..... and she says "It's OK I've got plenty of money".
I just cannot believe the gall of the guy.
My wife went to see her mother at the hospital today and the old gal was well out of it.

The EX daughter in Law is being really awkward and trying to score points.
We are looking after the kids while my son is at a trade show in Brum.
She is meant to have the kids this W/E but instead of coming over here to pick them up (like she normally would from the school on a Friday at 2:15) she wants us to go all the way over to hers (4 towns away) and deliver them to her.
She is really upsetting my missus with her awkward attitude.
My answer is..
"Oh, it's all too much for you? No worries we will keep them all weekend so you can take a break. Our son can pick them up on Monday, shame you won't see your kids". This will especially niggle her because the boy is off to Holland with the school on Monday morning at 5AM for a week.
