Been out to start on the landy drive problem but it was honking doon im not getting soaked. So went shopping.

Its always the same when you buy a landy you dont know whats been done to it...
I do wonder what people think about when building landys, everyone has different opinions on whats best lol
Convert a D1 to take a td5, modify a both axles with hd diff pans & rear diff air locker using 10 spline shafts instead of the
more robust 24 spline diffs & shafts. ??
Then only have hi low on the box & remove the centre diff lock mech unless its got an AATB centre diff ??

Got no drive out the rear of the transfer box, with the engine running & in any gear including 4th
front prop spins with no drive to the wheels, need to manually put it in diff lock later & see what happens.
Both rear half shafts have some damage, pinon shaft not damaged but there is a bit of play that I dont like.

I do have a full set of 24 spline shafts n diffs so I can see them getting fitted & get shot of the 10 spline ones.

So, what did you get at the shops though?
 
The "Pedal Car of Doom" is being picked up from me tomorrow. :)
Upgrades/repairs I have made for them include:
1. New upgraded kingpins and kingpin sleeves.
2. Crush-tubes in the front hubs to hold the inner races of the bearings apart/in position.
3. Proper "stand-offs" for the inner race's of the bearings on the axles.
4. A totally new and spiffy trackrod with RH & LH threaded rose-joints to adjust toe-in/out properly.

Cost to me... £30+ in parts etc. plus several hours of my time (SWMBO is NOT impressed).
Cost to the 4th Thorpe-bay scout group £0.
I suppose it is a bit like doing"community service". :D
