Could it have been that as it was being dragged up the slipway, the ice was melting then reforming under the pontoon where it was in contact with the slipway? And when reformed acting to ice both together? This might create strong resistance as the ice might be having to be broken again and again. Think about a sled dog having to break a sledge out before taking off over ice or snow
Is it salt water or freshwater?
Any access to a hose for hot water or any other way of heating the area? Or even saltwater?
Can't believe that it is cold enough for this to make steel that brittle.

Citroen and a spare parts search company have informed me that neither have a bulb holder for the fog light for the Pluriel.
Citroen simply don't make them any more.

Frustratingly thought I had found one from a company in New Milton but although it was absolutely the correct part, right colour etc, I then noticed it said "out of stock". So they had had one once.
I'll probably be able to mend it somehow, but the break in the connector is worse than I thought at first. May well have to go right out into left field to make a proper fix.
Maybe I could modify the fitting of the reversing lamp holder to make that a permanent replacement and then go totally wild to use LEDS or summat to make up a decent reversing light system.
I might just saunter down to the Citroen garage and see how useless they can be.
Unlike for Land Rovers I am not very aware of all the various types of manufacturer who might make aftermarket parts. It has a Valeo number on it, but searching under that brought up literally hundreds of results. It seems to be generic.
I await messages from various places, one of which is a CitroenC3 forum, which although small is pretty good.

No, it is the rear one.
Remember, I had to do it for the MOT?
I spent 1 1/2 hours on tinternet looking for one last night /this morning.
I think I had a look on fleabay, TBH I am trying to avoid second hand as i expect they will suffer from the same problem.

The problem, obviously, is that people with light clusters will try to flog them as a whole. But haven't even come across rear light clusters either. For ornery C3s, yes, but Pluriels, no.
And they are so rare. they never made many to begin with.
I am hoping that when we go back over to Frogland I might have a bit more luck, but they are rare there too.
W wanted to buy one for spares a while back. Some bloke in Norfolk had a load of them. They then disappeared very quickly.

Edit. Just find one of those "£5 for a wheel nut" ads on the bay, from a guy breaking one. I've messaged him.

The last headlight bulb we had to buy was a Volvo 1 for a RR it was 30% cheaper but exactly the same bulb.

I know its the holder you need but the bulb is a standard fitment.

No probs about the bulb most of them really are pretty well universal. Just the holder has very individual tags that slip through the cut-outs on the edge of the hole on the back of the cluster and these seem to be specific to each holder and hole.

I'll put a pic up later the numbers are as follows, PA6.6-GF30. This is the Valeo number.
The part number from Citroen I have yet to get, a bloke or two on the other forum are working on that, the ones in the left hand cluster are all in sequence but I don't know if the ones from the right hand one will be much the same or not. I'll put one up if and when he gets back to me.
I have tried looking for parts catalogues. Not had much luck.
The frustrating thing is that there is a Valeo factory down the road a bit from the town near our place in France. If we were there I'd drop in and see if they could be any help! We knew a bloke who worked there, he said all they made was cigar lighters!

Afternoon folks

Well to report on the red tape issues, I got an electronic "certificate" for my health cover in less than 2 days

but it looks good to go

.
So plan is Thursday to go in all smiles and hopefully come out with smiles

.
It has still be sunny and warm here, during sunlight hours.
Decided to put the Patio stuff away today as we aren't now sitting out. Thought I should air the big brolly first. Good job cos as its been getting cold the ladybirds have decided its a good place to hibernate, sorry. So have left it up tonight so they will all find another place, then take it down tomorrow.

Friend over the road had a Ton of hardwood brickets delivered today so helped move them undercover. Will be interesting to see if it gets her through the winter, her house is alot smaller than ours.
M took a bag to test on our fire, I don't actually think they will work for us, but its not worth trying to change the mind. we will see.

No snow yet, but I suspect its coming

Just watched another "Born mechanic".
Yet again Ant Anstead managed to lose a ton of money, £9k, on a Lotus Elan +2.
What a nana!
He had the head off, found a ding on its surface, got it mended for £200, (good move), did a ton of other work on it, but, due to never having thought to look at the bottom end while he had the top end off,

, it packed up on the test drive, crank had the most awful damage that he ought to have checked out.
To think that years ago I had a neighbour who, whenever he bought a car, he changed the bearing shells as a matter of course. He even borrowed my lock up garage to do this on a Triumph 2000!
So the car had a brand new engine, a full respray, new suspenders, etc etc. Bought for £7.5 K and only sold at auction (does he not know there are other ways of selling a car?) for, what, £16.5K. (I've deleted it in disgust!)
If this is how he is going to finance the rebuild of the barn/house for his parents they'll be living in a tent in the garden!

AND despite the car having lived in a garden for about 20 years, he never even looked underneath it!!!!!!!

(Makes me feel a lot better about how I look over a car when I buy one!)

Briquettes sound interesting. Any idea how they are made or what from? Hopefully hardwood. Cannot imagine a ton lasting that long, must be about what the equivalent to 2 cubic metres of metre lengths or 2 stere as the Frogs will have it?
Does she have any other form of heating?
Looking forward to hearing how it goes. Dunno anyone who burns them.

Was just a SWAG on my part. But looking online a 3 bed detached costs £3,200 + debris skips and safe/toxic waste removal charges. The usual method is to grit-blast it with dry ice beads which causes it to shatter. Although it can also be "shaved off" in many areas and then just blasted where the shaving don't reach.

Thanks, going in with a positive attitude. If the “grumpy” person changes the rules (it will probably not be the same grumpy) then I will walk out saying thank you, then throw my blaspheming words around. Then get back on it, it’s worth the hassle

As for the briquettes (you spelt it for me

) they are hardwood. Supposedly better calorific value to the oak we burn wt for wt.
The 1t looked to be about 1 1/2 cubes. Bricks and pellets are around here a lot now.

I hope it lasts the winter, but being warm, and being warm enough are 2 different things. So we will see.

They are essentially just compressed wood chippings, not sure if it’s natural resin that sticks them together when compressed, they do break apart quite easy.

As for other heating, no. But she can plug in the electric heater as she has solar now with batteries
