AHHH! now I understand and yes it is very interesting!
When we are in France we can never understand how the populace runs their day as if 12 o'clock was the real midday.
So even the retired still stop for lunch at that time which is closer in the summer to 10:30by the sun.
So we work on until about one p.m or one thirty to make the most of the lower heat. going back to work when the temp has come off its peak.
France marches to European i.e. German time, as it used to have to do during the occupation.

Or alternatively how bonkers we are to stick with UTC. But when you have to do stuff in 30 plus degrees of Celsius i think UTC makes more sense.

Not a bad week all in all. Tratter passed its MOT on Monday, advisories that the front suspension springs are rusty. They ain't, apart from a tiny bit where the paint has deteriorated, at the very bottom. They will get remedied when I can get round to it. Meantime, the top turrets are very rusty as are the bottom and top seatings. So I have got some shiny new top tubular turrets, galvanised ones - look well 'ard. Galv top n bottom rings on the way. Need to start the penetrating oil and top n bottom shock nut easing, as the shocks are still good, original LR ones and I don't want to wreck them getting them out. Over a year ago, the insulation in the engine top cover disintegrated, got some new (to me) foams about 6 weeks ago, finally glued them in this morning (with some roof membrane adhesive). Will fit the cover when I next lift the bonnet.
And to top the week, got a letter from me company penshun provider yesterday. They have been underpaying on account of an error (quite complicated so won't bore you with it). Upshot is they paid me a lump sum to cover the shortfall to date, interest, and upped my monthly payment a bit. After the state theft dept. took their cut I am left with about 2.5k sovs to squander. Not a bad windfall :banana:

Especially as my pension provider had done the opposite to me so I had to pay them some back. and they made the boo boo right at the beginning i.e.e 9 years ago. But you know this.

So mornin all.
Sunny day down here but we are having a nice long brekfus after a lie in and watching the auction.
So far I have copped a pair of very nice automatic watches and some other stuff that I will put back in, so very happy with the price,:vb-banana: We also copped a huge lot of boxed Edinburgh crystal including two decanters, so that is Xmas presents sorted out for quite a bit of the family as a lot of them are into whisky and either of scottish descent or living in Scotland!:)
W copped a gold bracelet for £170 plus 20% comm. Still waiting for a watercolour of two cats as one daughter is seriously into her cats. :)
Will later have to sort out the cellar book for over here before loading the new stuff into it.
After which I will have to do the dreaded turn around and reverse of the trailer onto our frontage. Like threading a flipping needle as the wall is curved and the gap is narrow and I am pants at reversing as I do it so rarely. :(

@kevstar I did say "allegedly", there are so many apocryphal stories about him...
He was a GP and apparently did an enormous amount of good where he lived and practised in rough areas of Bristol.

I am amazed that we are talking about cricket as to me it is only slightly more boring than watching paint dry!
(Only posting this as I noticed you put up an "angry" smiley, which suprised me. Is it cricket you are interested in or fairness? );)
 
Smoked salmon sandwiches then off out to the woods and load up the range rover with firewood.
Hopefully my chainsaw won't leak oil on the carpet again...🙄
