This is apparently how to do it in Scotland. not too different to High Court Bailiffs. Not too sure tbh I will try & find out though.
How to respond if a High Court Enforcement Officer contacts you
What should you do If you have been contacted by a High Court Enforcement Officer? You should not simply ignore contact from a Sheriff Officer or Messenger-at-Arms.

So he should go for it.
But I know from hard history lessons, if they do have the money or any goods, they'll put it/them in someone else's name, hide it, and/or stop working, go bankrupt, etc etc.
An attachment of earnings can only work if they are earning, so many just pack their jobs in. One of ours was a specialist in finding some sucker of a woman to live with and then every time the bailiffs came round he just pointed at all the goods that were in the house and said, "This isn't mine, it's hers."
Did get his beemer repoed though!
I wish him the very best of luck even though I don't know him as I really can feel his pain.
