....that I have just been through my folder of house title deeds and legal bumf to settle the question of how old is my house?
Looking at the paperwork the order to begin building was signed in 1934 and the conveyance to the original purchaser upon completion was in May 1935. So this place is nearly 90 years old. :D

Strangely in my search of all the paperwork I found the death certificate of the lady of the house and it declares her maiden name to be.......

.....wait for it....

Clarke. <- what a coincidence. :)

What went wrong with them, I will be replacing the gas rangemaster with the leccy induction range 750 sovs errrr nope its this........

If the raange cooker we fitted in France back in 2008 had been this, it'd be on its last legs by now!

Ours is (bottled) gas hob and fan ovens, love it.

But over here we have a 4 ring induction hob. (AEG), the first one went wrong within a fortnight, the one we now have, if we put three rings on together the back left ring fades in and out, we never use all 4 together and it is wired into the wiring for the original double oven and grill so no lack of sparks! And we really have to play silly beggars to keep it clean.
We bought it cos W thought it would be easier to keep clean, she now admits it isn't unless you keep it covered up with "cook through" stuff. We put a piece of kitchen paper on each ring, then cover the whole thing with a sort of black netting we think may have come from Lakeland, (the fact they can flog this stuff tells you lots!) and then we put another sheet of kitchen paper down on each ring. I'd go back to gas in a heart beat if I could.

If your gas is so easy to get hold of why fix what ain't bust?

I can understand what you are saying about the gas bottles.
I was going to make a cupbpard to put ours in but that would have meant having to put a pipe in from outside. And it would have looked ugly on the front of the house no matter how well I made it. So instead I put a small one in a cupboard next to the cooker, so it is invisble and they generally last 2 years! Lots of Frogs keep their gas bottles like that, under a surface or whatever. We can turn it on and off in a jiffy. We only use the gas for one meal in the day so it's hardly ever on. The one for the BBQ is the spare, so kept outside with it.

Surprised at the fan packing up. I have had elements pack up, but not in Frogland, they only took minutes to change.

Ours has 8 burners and we tend to only use 1/2 of it at a time so we can keep it nice and clean, as well as using those silver things I've mentioned before which clean in a jiffy. TBH in both places it is the backplate which is the biggesrtPITA to keep clean, especially the brushed stainless one.

What toy do you have in mind? 🤣 🤣 🤣

High pressure gloom at the mo.
Off to buy tarps to replace the worn ones that go over the vehicles when we are away.
Opposite neighbours is now "Sale agreed".

Of the other two neighbours in the close, at least one pair are ok.

Really do miss the lovely ones who moved out.

Do hope they chuck the kitchen and the bathrooms on the front lawn, that'll pea the nasty neighbours off! 🤣 🤣 🤣
