Rang to book an MOT for the disco yessdi.
As the testing station has been taken over there is a noo receptionist. she seemed to knwo who I was though which was a bit bizarre.
I asked her if they had taken on another tester as I wanted Russell my trusted bloke to do it.
She said yes he's on light duties though.
Apparently the poor bloke has had a heart attack but came back to work after 2 weeks against the docs instructions.
Guess he was just bored and fed up of being under his missus's feet all day.
He's younger'n me by a longish way. Totally MAD bikist.
I asked if he was eating more healthily and had stopped smoking. The answers were "no and no".:(:(:(
Suddenly a pass or a fail seems less important. :(

Never seen one of these before

Having booked the MOT the ACE warning light is nopw playing an intermittent game.
First thing in the morning, or anytime I get in it, it comes on, then, on the second or thrid start it goes out. So it seems to be a damp or heat-related fault.
But today it can't make its mind up. Tried removing and replacing both the relay and the fuse under the bonnet. Eventually it goes out.
Put the Foxwell on it, it keeps saying the same things. Whether it isworking or not.
Not sure which way to turn.
Replace fusebox under the bonnet?
Replace ACE fluid actuator thingy on the other thingy attached to the chassis? (Forgive my lack of technical terms, CBA to find them out at the mo.)
I always did say that if the ACE played up seriously I would replace the whole thing with a standard anti-roll bar set up. But that isn't cheap. AT ALL.
And as it is raining yet again I don't fancy trying to take the fuebox out to give it a look-see and maybe clean it up and waterproof it.
Especially as it may not be a damp issue after all. But then "dry joints" usually fail when the connection gets warm don't they? Not improve their current flow?
Jeezo I hate electronics! :mad::mad::mad:

Take the fusebox out and check the back of it for green gunge ...

Take the fusebox out and check the back of it for green gunge ...
as you can see, I did want to do that but wasn't going to do it with the rain pouring down.
I haven't done this before so am slightly trepidated as I hate flipping around with loads of electrical connections to big boards.
I am going to have to assume that they are designed so I can't get the connections mixed up, and I'll take pics as I go.

But thatnks for the advice.:)

I did a Disco 300TDi, but took pics, labelled wires with masking tape and scribble ...

Did a cheat sheet using the lid diagram as a guide ...

Worked great after resoldering the defective bits ...

Afternoon folks :) .

Not much to report really;).

We did pick up our new driving license's and all the correct boxes were ticked, M even got a couple more :banana:. So we are good for another 5yrs.

The temps are all over the place at the moment, we didn't light the fire a couple of days last week it was that warm.

M has caught me up last week in years but it wont last long before the gap goes back to normal again;). So we will be going to the best fish restaurant in town soon that serves the best venison in town:), pretty good fish too.

Sent M some links for my birthday present today;).
Why not?

I am affeared that a TD5 fusebox will be a lot more complex then a 300tdi one due to the very complex electrics on these vehicles.
General advice for these seems to be replace rather than trying to repair I think cos there are PCBs in them. If I find it looking well dodgy I'll get a replacement and keep the old one to play wiv!

Masking tape and scribble is what I always use when wiring a kit car as you have no diagram to work with! In fact you end up making your own diagram after having wired it up! So much non-standard stuff on them!

One guy in my club, an electronic engineer, made up his own elelctronic ignition with a way of setting it so that a thief could start the car but on accelerating the engine it would fire all over the place rendering it undriveable, but return to a smooth tickover when you released the pedal!
He was a brilliant bloke and his wiring diagrams were very pretty!

Evening folks:)

Flicking through to try and find a film to watch tonight and a song line sang out as we moved to the next.

So the next 20mins we went from finding it and then remembering how great some musicians are.

So we went from this. After hearing the first line of the tune.

To this. Cos it’s great listening.

Still bring goosebumps:).

Haapy buff day to youo hoo!
Have a nice celeb tonite!!:):):)

Says clutch is the issue and the fancy AWD/4WD system seems to be sus.

Nothing about it being a problem with it being petrol.

But there is more than £500 in spares if you have the time to break it, which may not be a bad thing to do :p

As you say not too difficult to repair, the funny viscous drive thingy is well known nowadays and easy to fix.
There are fixes for the overheating, after all the engine ran fine in other vehicles, as is my understanding.
