Funnily one spare I have had in all my cars for a long while now is a spare fan/serpentine belt. Needed one once and didn't have one, never again. (Didn't happen to have a wimmins in the car with a stocking or even a pair of tights!)Van sorted tonight after work, new power steering pump 160 squids Found the loud banging noise too...
the fan belt was starting to come apart & one strand (I will call it) 60mm long & 3mm thick whacking on things
on the way round. Funny as it wasnt making a noise all the time & very hard to find in the pitch black.
Once I had light it was spotted instantly. I had a new belt in the driver side door pocket.
