Que rant:
Call me a climate change and all-round air quality denier, but I really do wonder about just how much these vehicles damage anything? A while back, Tony Blair was POSITIVELY encouraging us to change to diesel, he even citied the convincing reasons why; now, somehow, these engines and even good old petrol ones are deadweight that must be discarded for all things electric. Meanwhile, great companies like JLR, Aston Martin, even Lamborghini, FFS, have either produced, or will be, electric options that will be the ONLY option in the near future. Look out for the day when you're stopped at a pedestrian crossing and a yummy-mummy, on said crossing, will spit on your LR bonnet and tell her two gender-neutral, no-name, off-spring that there's a very naughty person in that rather dirty, mud-stained "thingy", who is polluting our planet beyond belief and one must never look at them directly....

The acted at the time ont knowledge and science they had. As that knowledge and science grew and got betterer, their opinions changed. We now have an alternative int electric witch we dint have 20 years er go. Eye can't elp finking converting ma hippo ter diesel may have jinxed the situation.

Good morning, and for once I will be serious.
Can anyone explain to me, and every sane person in the world, how and why CARBON DIOXIDE is suddenly 'a bad thing', and that all life on this planet which depends on it will have to die if there isn't enough?
Plants convert CO2 into food and excrete OXYGEN into the atmosphere, thus helping us to stay alive!
The 'Climate Change' fear has been developed (without ANY PROOF) as another way of generating 'taxes' for the banksters, who just so happen to be able to print loans from thin air, which we all have to pay interest on.
However, the climate does indeed change in a cyclical manner, and is 95% dependent upon the solar radiation and sun spot activity.
We are currentl;y in a dead period of sunspots, as there have been none over the past 3-4 years, which means that the course of the Jetstream has drifted south, affecting the trade winds, which, affects both of the hemispheric ecosystems, and increases the ocean temperatures by a degree or so.
The last ime we were in this current cycle was around 600 years ago, when it also converged with the 11-year, 36-year and 120-tear solar cycles.
Also bear in mind that all universities depend on their funding by 'following the party line' on whichever line of fear can be published for the masses to consume, and to happily dig deeper into their pockets to make a few people even richer than they already are!

Vats ennuff uv der seri-arse stuffs, anne eya wishes all me fiend a werri anne nappi Fursdi.
ANNE, us int dedded yets!:p:p

Lord Hippo, please dont go blaming yourself for any of this stuff  Suffice to say, I don't believe that the scientists in this area suddenly came up with some very solid evidence around all of this. Instead, I would propose that much of it is regurgitated bull with a new wrapper; it also helps if your university or institution, which can get zillions of dosh for work in this area (Uni of East Anglia springs to mind - remember the hoohaa in 2010 when uni emails were leaked, exposing how they sought to doctor and manipulate the message going to the public and the likes of the IPCC), keeps singing the same tune only a tad louder each time. Your point on the climatic cycle is where these guys sought to play down and, actually, successfully stopped several academic papers getting published because they didn't say the 'right' things.
I firmly believe that in, maybe, ten years or less, ALL diesels in whatever vehicle at the time, will come under intense scrutiny and be, at least, taxed into oblivion with environmental and road duties. Vehicle age will count for nowt. You heard it here first ;);) (My First in Bull****ting from University of Stirling comes in very handy...)

They wouldn't let me have a go on the back scratcher and kept pushing me to the back of the queue :(:(
