When we first got the shell of our house but the plumbing wasn't done I used to leave a long garden hose out in the sun. The water in it got so hot I had to be careful when showering with it.

I am now wondering why you don't sort out a water capture system, our 1000 litre tank, as you know from previous posts, takes not long to fill up with a decent bit of rain but lasts a long time. Filters are available to make it "potable".

We lived in a caravan from April to Oct, before we got moved into the shell ;) . So yes we know all about using water from the sky,and the local spring. (we borrowed some from next door but that ended due to red tape) we never actually got mains water till the next year in Aug (i think) So we know all about solar showers and collecting rain, but never thought we would have a problem once we got mains water;).

If I was going to dig a whole and the bother with of filtering out budgie pooh, I would just dig it deeper and get it filtered from the ground;).
But I am thinking its gonna need to be thought about as it may need to be a lot of meters deep;).

If they finished the water project that has been approved, which connects us to a much more reliable supply we would be fine.

Bloody tourists are to blame for our lack, but its a needed thing for the economy so its a bit swings and roundabouts really.

But hey so we stink, keeps the visitors away:vb-banana::vb-banana:

Did yer gerrit sorted. Wot did they say?
My son is emailing insurance company to inform them that the car was supposedly scrapped around 1995
I've checked DVLA and the car is stated as no tax no mot and no insurance so it's still on their books
I might have to write to DVLA and inform them of the status of the car and see what happens, need to tell them I am no longer responsible for it

Going for a long trip today

Got to Barnhill eventually. From the Jura ferry to
Ardlussa was 22 miles which took an hour. Ardlussa to Barnhill 6 miles which took just over an hour but the ‘road’ was a bit rough

Barnhill where the famous Eric Arthur Blair lived and wrote books

There are lots of vids on YouTube regarding digging your own well or bore for a water supply. Plenty of ideas there, unless you are on rocky ground when it gets a lot harder. The concrete interlocking rings sunk into the ground and descending under their own weight is often to be found posted there, a concreted lid to keep "stuff" out and a pumped supply to the house. :)
That's a good "off-grid" project for sure. :)
