because of the manufacturing/maintenance footprint of the additional cars.. much larger than one car.. even if that one car uses more fuel
(i still cant get over how poor my car mpg is compared to others)

you buy new do you? (I know you don’t)

Just cos you have 6 vehicles doesn’t up the average miles you do a year?

J

it probably does, because bikes get ridden for pleasure, not because i need to go somewhere
Your weekend of bike doesn’t come anywhere near flying to Spain for a holiday, I guess.

There used to be an online Green footprint calculator on the net, can’t find it now. But mine used to be huge :(.
but now it’s tiny and I mean tiny:banana:

Evening folks:).

Got to go inside now and sort out some grub, after I finish me cold beer;)
Had an early start working in the cool morning air, then it got ott quick;)

But screwed down the new Brolly with 8x3” screws as the destructions said weigh it down with 150kg:eek:
its stayed up for the day and is great.
Just got out of the pool(32) all the way to the bottom, Now sat under a standing brolly, weds are for slumming it

Being retyred can be great sometimes :)

what do people expect?
1. you dont need a car, you can cycle to work because everyone should live nearby. dont go on holiday unless you can train/fly
2. you should own several cars, one for each type of journey you need to make
3. dont have hobbies or other reasons that require a large vehicle
If anyone ever questions us having one (well 3, shhhh!) I simply say "Could yours tow 3.5 tonne nearly 600 miles in one day? or even to the end of the road? Cos that is mostly what I use it for."

its not exactly a 'green' option though. and its likely a 'green'ist thats posting the notes on cars
The argument is that you can only drive one car at a time. If you used a gas guzzler all the time there may be a little something in their argument, but modern 4x4s consume much less fuel and produce cleaner emissions than an old fashioned Mini did.
But the arguement isn't really about emissions it's about personality type, and they are saying, "You are only driving this thing cos you think you are inferior." to which the argument is "No mate I know I'm not and that you are, or you think you are, or you are just plain jealous. Get some therapy!"

I think I used that online a few year's past And the world owes me .from what I can recall are land with the Forrest removes approximately 850 tons off carbon from the atmosphere per year we create approximately 68 tons a year so we are so green we look like cabbages so I may get a hummer and still have plenty carbon left that's a thought asses every household In the UK with set parameters and tax them if they go over carbogreen tax not just on vehicle's 😡

The 150kgs was wat the destructions said, I went for 8 screws through the decking into the base supports which are bolted to the concrete so fingers crossed it stays up ;).

what day is it? sorry I couldn’t be bothered to type it all ;)

Flawed argument though, production of one vehicle takes less resource and energy than several

..the wood arrived at 11 AM and I have been working solidly on making a new door for one of my storage sheds.
I am amazed at how much work has to go into making a simple door.
Firstly, none of the angles are "true/square" so you have to make allowances for all of this.
I think I have it right. At the moment it is all hanging on the two ends of its peripheral frame.
The last two pieces will go on tomorrow (rain forecast this early evening. I think it has come out OK and my only fear is that it "sags" and distorts as it is only hung from the longer end. However, my fall-back plan allows me to slice it down the centre through a central vertical brace and hang each half independently.

I'm nadgered and enjoying a swift VAT to recuperate.

Mate wants to paint it blue as it came out of the factory but lots of cream paint on it from its days on the Mersey Tunnel recovery. I think Tunnel colours as it still has the crane

...FFS just sat down for our evening meal and..... Call from the wife's cousin in the US. His Mum cannot get through to the wife's Mum on the phone. Is she dead?

No, she's just a stupid old bat of 93..94 who has forgotten to put the phone back on the hook (again).

Oh and the mobile I bought the old bag as a back up for when she does this little trick? ..... flat battery and the charging cradle not even plugged in.
But.... its me that has to drive the wife up there so she can check because she's had a glass of wine and can't possibly drive.

Happens all the time. Silly old gal should be in a home.
