Wonder if it was something they gave out when they gave out the millions of gas masks they made for the population that were never needed?Yup the d@te on qit is 1943

Shame about the split spindle. Would need a bit of work to make it clean and shiny.
Some "upcyclers" would paint it, yuk!
Wot is the legs like? But it would end up quite comfortable. You could always upholster the seat wiv a bit of leather and some brass topped tack things.
We had some sort of like that int kitchen, typical country kitchen pine rubbish cheapo thing, but it was at least a carver. A dog chewed most of the way through a stretcher so I took it off and made a new one on me ex-s-i-l's wood lathe. First and last time I used one. It turned out OK considering I did it by eye.
W has one like your's int loft only it's the sort with a spring in a metal base so you can rock in it at your big posh desk. She got it donkey's years ago, started stripping it and it has stayed like that ever since.

I did 6 days a week int hotel, for most of a year. Only day off woz a Sunday, not much was open back then, (1972/3) and the club shut at midnight.Some peeps duz six daisy week. I dunt begrudge though..
The coin is gud
And I got paid very little more than when I worked 5 days a week.
