My paraffin stove along with a Tilley Lamp were purchased a few years back as a realisation of some boyhood "couldn't have's" that I could then indulge.
Buff the primus to within an inch of its life, brasso is fine, the forum boys are all worry-warts (IMHO) it will take a lot of brasso to eat into any soldered seams and it isn't on there long enough.
My late BIL had never even seen a Tilley lamp and was amazed at how it worked and how bright it was. LOL :D
This old, old technology is cheap, easy to maintain and works well for what it is. Enjoy!
Oh I will, I am now the proud owner of three Tilley lamps. One of which we used camping when I was a kid. I am currently polishing the Optimus, with Brasso. (Can't believe how much work it is or how long it is taking, but it is coming up nicely.)
We had a Primus in a biscuit tin when I was a kid and used it to cook on for picnics on the Yorkshire wolds. One time we took some sausages with us, not something we normally did, so we went to cook them and realised we had forgotten the frying pan, so my dad took a hubcap off the Morris Traveller and we cooked them in that!
He also had a paraffin blow lamp, a Sieverts I think. It is in a drawer somewhere, maybe one day I'll get that going too.
We'll both be set up for the blackouts!:):):)

'orspital called today to move my appointment from tomorrow to Weds.
Apparently a generator failed and so they are running a bit behind with the nuclear medicine stuff.
So next scan is now Weds 1PM and not tomorrow at 9:50.
Still none the wiser as to why there needs to be 2 scans (stress & resting) but they must know what they are doing. :D
My fingers continue to be crossed..;):)
