Sorry mate. no fun at all.
Condolences.
Feel your pain mate, went through similar for years....that I got call from my son yesterday as he had "news".
Apparently his EX delivered the kids to school yesterday morning and actually told them that she cannot look after them anymore as its all to hard and they will have to stay with "Daddy" all the time.
Reading between the lines its more like she can't get her lazy arse out of bed in the mornings to do the commute to get them to school. This was what she did before she left my son...just laid in bed till 11AM while he got the kids up and got them to school etc. etc.
He pointed out to her that she would lose child-support and maint from him if that's what she did.
We are both gob-smacked that a Mother would just abandon her children like this. Butthen she is a narcissistic trollope of the first order.
The kids were very distressed.

Showing her true colours now isn't she?...that I got call from my son yesterday as he had "news".

You can choose your friends, sadly you cannot choose your relations, (as I once told my mother!)Yes indeed it is very bad for the kids. Sorry to hear that you and your brothers are estranged.
I was estranged from my only brother for 10+ years all because my Sister told him I had said something that I had not.
We straightened it all out and we are fine now.
Same Sister of mine declared that Me, My brother and my late brother in law were all alcoholics (this while enjoying my hospitality at a big family gathering of all living members of the clan I could find).
She's been on the naughty-step ever since. I'm polite, but I don't want to know her.
"crabbit" LOVE that word. So evocative!!Morning all mental rain early doors, suns oot the noo hopefully it will stay dry just waiting
on my wee bro appearing we got a bit of tree topping to do. This will go down well with
the crabbit auld bat next door lol Likes to have a moan about everything I do.
That will make a nice base for my radio antenna... A hole was dug and a 3M galvanised washing pole was concreted into position this morning.
I ache, especially my wrists from the spade thrusting into hard, dry clay.

Hang on, so I have to shimmy up a rickety roof ladder and someone else has dug a big holeThat will make a nice base for my radio antenna
Too late to tell you this now, but having had to do the same in similarly hard ground, I was advised that I should have soaked the ground with a hose first.... A hole was dug and a 3M galvanised washing pole was concreted into position this morning.

And there was me thinking you had actually met in the flesh?Again, you don’t look how I imagined
Was partially done to combat the exceptionally dry summer. But, too wet and you can end up with a hole that just gets bigger and bigger because its all too soft.Too late to tell you this now, but having had to do the same in similarly hard ground, I was advised that I should have soaked the ground with a hose first.
Maybe this will help next time?
but good on you.
Job done!
Not sure this is on the right thread!!!Was partially done to combat the exceptionally dry summer. But, too wet and you can end up with a hole that just gets bigger and bigger because its all too soft.
While it was a tough dig and (with just a trenching spade and bare hands to pull the earth out) the result was a very firm very tight hole and we like those don't we?
Postcrete has gone off now so I slipped my big pole into it. It was very satisfying.
