Not sure without stripping the trigger. Rather go down the return route first incase it is dead or can't get any broken bits back together

Twas a guess.
It may be a genuine mistake he sold it not knowing it were broke'd. But ah can't help finking he knew it were broke'd and thought he's get what he could out of selling it, rather than repair or scrap it. If he sells it it's some else's broke'd item and they may not realise.
