My son sent me this about a growing rebellion against the profits of the energy companies.
It's an interesting idea but it does have a number of pitfalls they ain't mentionned.
If yer cancel yer direct debit then yer often breaking a condition ov yer contract. Ence breach ov contract. Thems who contracted into a fixed rate which is lower than current prices, would lose oot. Their bill would then be charged against the higher (to thems) variable rate. Thats gonner cost more long term.
Eye note she mentions a decade ov wages not rising then goes on to mention rent rises. A pop at the Con's but not mentionning labour policy which made hosing an investable commodity, which saw property prices set on a rise/trend never seen before. Peeps din't moan at the time as they fort they were becoming wealthier. Yer can't gain unless yer downsize.
Eye can't see peeps doing this. The ones wiv cash spare and solvent will take the risk if they're the ' the gov' types. They run the risk of additional charges un the ultimate of baylifts. The thought this will be delayed by blocked courts is wishfull finking. Eventually it will hapoen. Baylift charges on top of court cost will see yer car taken away if yer own it. Or possessions. Not sure if they would take yer pet ardvark. Some ov the 'anti' types will do it. Fek big corporation etc while drinking st*rbuks.
Martin lewis has already met wiv da main big energy suppliers to get them to handle the legit 'can't pay' peeps by writing oft bills. Not sure how much they agreed to it assits still ongoing eye finks. Essentually not going down the route where peeps don't have enuff income to pay, un using court un baylifts to chase thems.
Eye note they talk of energy producers making a lorra profit but the vast majority is from operations ootside the uk. Also they already pay 65% tax ont profits. So there ain't a magical fix fer this, like the gov stepping in wivva 2k donation to feed yer freelander wiv fool to help oot. That 2k comes from tax revenue. They could tax the energy peeps more on a one oft payment burrits norrinuff to cover the energy rises we face.
One fing that wood help is if countries realised there aint a need to fight over energy, which pushes prices up. Opec was created to try to keep the price ov oil reasable and stable. They could pump more to drop the price.
