That's your pensioner's winter fuel allowance blown for this yearOur friends, the wife of whom used to work for Moet & Chandon, have just taken our yearly order for champagne and other stuff!
6 bots of Moet&Chandon impérial @ €22.5
2 bots of Knockando 18 yr old @ €29.09
2 bots of Oban 14 yr old @ €31.2
Having had our eyes poked out by the equivalent prices in the UK.
FFS, how can anyone afford to buy it there?
And I only get half a one anyway, as the W get's the other half! That's your pensioner's winter fuel allowance blown for this year

(Yet another definition of "the other half!")
The crazy thing is we give a lot of it away in presents. One bot of whisky is already earmarked for a son in law along with a decanter and six glasses, unused, that we bought from an auction. His hobby is whisky, well one of them!
When we went to see our Dutch friends the other day who have now taken possession of their new house, we took a bot of champagne to celebrate.
Only once we had drunk half of it did they tell us that they got one off the estate agents AND some other friends brought one round too!!
Glad we bought a cheap one and not a M&C!!!

Mrs MOL drove down and I followed her back!! My hands are not doing so well this weekend so driving a manual was difficult. I did not want to take the RR as that would have been treble the cost in fuelSo who drove you down there and followed you back? Mrs. My Old Landy? That's proper that is.
I love the fact that the sun shines directly through Box tunnel on only one day of the year, Brunel's birthday. and guess who built it?Today is one of those few days in the year when the sun rises directly in line with the Royal Mile in Edinburgh...

OK, I'll bite.So 3.75 a bottle must be the cheap Chinese imitation, But then I have always thought Champers is over rated fizzy water.

Makes sense!I usually pay about £16 for Bowmore 10 y/o and £20 for 17 y/o but then the staff get 50% discount, same for all the other local distilleries
Now is it an urban myth or not, that those who work in distilleries have a special arrangement about breath tests with the plod? As I have heard that breathing in alcohol laden air all day can present as a positive even if the person concerned hasn't drunk a drop.
Just wondrin!
As for the rest of the day.....
Well yesterday the new neighbours spent most of it burning stuff. Which meant we couldn't do any washing.
It is illegal to burn garden waste anywhere in the Tarn so it depends on what they were burning, but we think it must be green stuff. you are supposed to take it all the way down to the "déchetterie" (dump) or compost it yourself. But when you have 6000 sq metres that is impossible.
I do sympathise, but we don't burn it and until they arrived we had no near neighbours.
I think I'll just have a quiet word and ask them not to do it without asking us first if we will be doing washing.
We'll see how that goes down. Last thing I want to do is to fall out with them.
