...that there has been a bit of an "Oh-$hit" moment at Clarke Towers.
All the work that went into the mini-barn last year was suddenly looking like it would be a tear down and do-again.
We both walked out there yesterday and declared that the room stank. All I could relate it to was a smell like damp and mouldy plaster or rotting wood.
Now there is no sign of any damp in there and the painted surfaces are all pristine with no plaster bubbling or any of those signs, no dark patches on the ceiling etc. etc.
I cracked the fanlight windows open into their "night-vent" position and went away to think about it.
I lay awake most of the night worrying that the roof structure was rotting away inside and would have to be all ripped-off done again.
Went in there this morning and again this afternoon, no smell... no nothing.
Now it has been there since April last year and yesterday was the first ever time there has been ANY odour to the room (other than the smell of a dinner after we have eaten in the adjoining dining room).
Now don't laugh.... but my Mrs. reckons it is the smell left by sweaty unwashed/un-bathed grand-kids who spent an hour in there the day before and were bouncing on the trampoline and riding on the exercise bike.
I am not so sure so I am going to pop some of the LED down-lighters out and have a look into the roof structure.
I just cannot think why a sudden "sour" odour would suddenly appear and then go completely in the space of 24 hours.
Ye ye blame the kids bit of adult sweaty action in the shed me finks
