Yes we did once or twice have an incident of burnt water! Which is why she was laughing!!!!!
We started collecting them cos they go well in the place in Fr and we do need them there sometimes as power-cuts are a thing and power don't always come back on. Very quickly.
The worst was when some lasted 3 days or more and peeps killed themselves by using gennys, indoors!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
(Not round our way, up in the centre of Frogland mostly)
They are decorative too and some are quite ingenious. Just have to get lamp oil that don't stink and keep an eye on the wicks so they don't smoke up the ceiling.
Never tried citronella-flavoured oil but might one day altho the action against bugs never seems to be all that effective. But anything to stop Wifey getting bit!
I'll put a pic or 2 up.

Understood.
In our case the push-fit was directly on to the old copper. Not Plassy! should have explained that!
So you could have cut the copper as close as poss to the taps and popped em on. BUT if the copper was too far away, you might have needed a bit more!
Still all done now!:):):):):)

As a boy I always wanted a Tilley lamp instead of my Hurricane lamp to go fishing with.
Several years ago I bought one second hand (on a whim) and it came in jolly useful when we had a power cut the next year.
I also indulged myself with an old-fashioned Paraffin Primus stove.
I just like the old fashioned and simple technologies. :)
 
Good evening…. Had some long mad days.
Stopped by locals on the way into the woods thinking I was lost…
Now I find the tv series I downloaded is subtitled :mad:

At least driving in was in the light..

Poor thing :(:( The costs are always high:mad: dont you have insurance for this type of thing
it saved us a fortune when we got a massive bill the last time. Tis good you've got her home
though. 25 quid for a used shirt robbing gits wash it & take it back for a refund. ;)

I seen a funny thing yesterday when you mentioned a road cone, driving behind a 7.5t & going though
road works the cars further up were swerving round a cone then the truck moved out & swerved left
clipping the cone & fired from the middle of the road over onto the verge. Haha

Ive got dewalt impact guns which I find very good, I only got them cause ive got a full dewalt collection with a heep of batterys & chargers. Great for landy wheel nuts. ;)

Noo merkin stainless food box installed old one taken away & im giving my mate the old one
I'll need to drill a hole in his wall for the water feed his missis is well happy. :)
Early finish was home for 1sh fell asheep for 20 mins then spent the afternoon cleaning the
Evo & gave it a clay bar treatment, next is a wee buff with compound & im looking at ceramic coating.
Probably buy the auto finesse full kit, id need at least 2 days free.

Me too, well us too.
We both remember going on picnics as kids and our dads getting the primus going to make tea.
We also had Tilley lamps when camping and they give off a really powerful light don't they?
Love the hissing sound they make.
So from the same auction house I bought two, one is almost unused and the previous owner made up a special wooden box for it to carry spares, meths etc etc.
I also bought an old Swedish version of a Primus that dismantles into a smallish tin. The leather washer on the pump had dried up so I put it in a jar with some oil in it, years ago and haven't touched it since.
This might stimulate me to get going on it.
A lot of this comes from the fact that our first two kit cars looked like cars from long ago, mine from the 30s and hers from the 40s-50s. So we have bought several picnic sets/hampers as well. Which we do properly use.
Goodwood Revival etc plus various rallies we used to go on which sadly are not run anymore.
Start from one nice place, such as the Haynes museum or Bath, follow a Tulip book around lots of back roads then end up at a period country house hotel where we dress for dinner, eat, dance, enjoy the jazz then sleep in a lovely bedroom, before a good brekker and heading home.
Really miss those. Met some lovely peeps too, who we used to see regularly. Sadly the company that ran them couldn't make enough money on them so they reduced and reduced until they were only doing London to Brighton. :(:(:(:(
