I like how you are prioritising the important stuff. To be honest Stan, we are only taking some personal stuff and the TV's. Everything else will be bought new when we get there. The lathe, mills and general metalworking stuff will take up most of the truck
The TV's are a fairly new 56" and a slightly older 48" so are worth taking. Everything else has seen better days and not something we want in the new placeI like how you are prioritising the important stuff.
Try Grandads Shed (goggle it). They have a place in Brigg in Lincs, and a place in Pocklington (near York). I have a few pieces from them and can vouch for the quality. Went there after a brief visit to joke furniture land where I found the quality abysmal and thats being complimentary. In what is expected to be my final home, I went for moveable furniture rather than built in stuff and several years on I know it was the right decision .On an inquisitive note @doriz , where would you go to buy wardrobes in Lincolnshire?
I'm beginning to think you're trying to have a clean start in your new place. The TV's are a fairly new 56" and a slightly older 48" so are worth taking. Everything else has seen better days and not something we want in the new place
Righto!I think it is a question of time rather than style. We are not taking any wardrobes with us so they will be required when we get there. I don't want to build them (I have sold most of my woodwork tools now) so it is a case of buying what will fit
Something I should have mentioned is the wardrobes need to have sliding doors. The new place is a lot smaller than our current house. The doors on standard depth wardrobe would hit the bed when open!!Righto!
We got a lot of stuff from these peeps for our place in France, both pine and oak The oak particularly is good, if you like natural wood. Apart from the wardrobes, obvs, all our bedroom furniture in our bedroom came from there, so bed, bedside cabinets, and two chests of drawers. Good solid stuff.
But if you can manage it, auctions have really good stuff cheap as "brown furniture" is not in vogue at the mo! and if you want to paint it, shabby chic it, etc it's easy. Victorian and Edwardian stuff is dead cheap. Often beautiful wood really well made. Stag stuff from 60s and 70s, Ercol. Can all be found, but obvs not much use if you are in a hurry. You'll need to search for aution sites on line.
Buy a smaller bedThe doors on standard depth wardrobe would hit the bed when open!!
We went to IKEA for the first time in years to get ideas for the new place.
Never again.
I prefer shopping on line these days and that is the future for me
And I've just noticed I forgot to put the link in anyway!Something I should have mentioned is the wardrobes need to have sliding doors. The new place is a lot smaller than our current house. The doors on standard depth wardrobe would hit the bed when open!!
Every now and then I have a blitz to clear out stuff that has not been worn or used for a year or more. Its surprising how much storage space is being used by stuff you no longer need. And how much storage space you don't actually need after all. But one has to be brutal with the clear out.Something I should have mentioned is the wardrobes need to have sliding doors. Hee Hee!I feckn hate IKEA been twice & twice we had a barney, had all sorts of glares when I walked
against the grain & went out the way I came in.
Absolutely! I have become a regular at both the tip and several charity places. We have nearly completed the house clearout, it is the second phase of the workshop now....Every now and then I have a blitz to clear out stuff that has not been worn or used for a year or more. My current workshop & garage is bigger than the bungalow we are moving to

I'd attempted to take the top of one of those stupid little "milk" carton things for my coffee and it burst all over a jacket that cost a bit.
Haven't been for a long while now, so maybe they've started getting stuff from China or summat.Try Grandads Shed (goggle it).
