As a lathe NOOB, I am currently feeling my way with this. I can put it back together (as was) with all the horrible noise etc. and try turning something up.
I think I will put a longer belt on and introduce a tensioner. This will mean it may have trouble in reverse direction, but reverse is not often used and I can cross that bridge.......

Yes, I had the flu jab and felt rough the next day but I was expecting that. But I just kept getting worse, then a few days later the wife started suffering too. Did test and was positive. I was a bit worried for a while cos I'm on the clinically vulnerable list due to COPD.

Hot news just in.........
My DIL has Covid-19.

Her Sister has it too.

she was the first to get the +ve result last week, but guess what? .... they all mingled at Xmas

We didn't mingle.

They now want us to do some shopping for them as the whole house is locked in.
I suggested they were asking the wrong generation, and maybe he should call his brother and ask for help and leave us "at-risk" old-uns out of it.
But I know that won't happen.
Other than that it is a cold, dry day here.

I think this situation is a perfect example that the younger generation are simply unable to comprehend the situation of a pandemic. Stick to your guns, it is time they began to think and solve difficulties for themselves, it is only by doing this that they are going to learn.
