When machining stuff in my workshop, I use imperial as my main measuring units.I was drugged up about the same time so saw both, still use both whichever is convenient. On the tape.
But the 10cwt always got me as I was a little young to care at the time.

But I will cut 110mm off the bar then face it to 4 inches....
So you still think 10 bob is a lot of money to give a kiddy for pocket money! (Me too, what do they spend it on, a Lucky Bag and a Beano is only a tanner all together!)I was brought up with both, I have just never accepted decimalisation

Ducks-DiseaseI too, am cursed with undertalledness
Funny thing is, if you say to a kid in school how tall are you, most will answer in Feet and inches, but if you ask them to hold their hands a foot apart, they don't have a clue, or didn't till I retired 5 years ago. Yet they all know their weight in kilos. (I only use kilos for weight as for years we only had a French weighing scales.)There is often many debates as to which is the most accurate.
When working in oilfield length was measured in feet and tenths a foot was still a foot but was split into 10 (so the dumb oilfield workers could add it up) No I know
But ODs &IDs worked in proper inches
My feelers are all thou
Strange when you mix both to make it easy, now mostly length is measured in meters and I have often said to the young guys don’t always round up to the next 5mm cos over a lot of meters it can get you in trouble.
Strange how some of a certain age mix and match as needed.
The youngsters these days wouldn’t know how big a foot is now, unless they got kicked with it

How much does a litre of water weigh?"
