It was said the rear end wasn't heavy enough for the rear to have disks. Something about not being effective. I assume they couldn't get the balance right for the traction control and abs. Freelander 2 has disks all round like more modern cars but the disks/pads are smaller which I assume gives a reduced braking capacity on the rear. Freelander 2 can pulse brake the wheels faster anorl.
