The main reasons for the Hawthorn/Blackthorn are as follows plus the reason why the Hawthorn just edges it over the Blackthorn...
1. Outer pitch first - that way you can bung all your stuff inside if its raining while you set up camp and the inner should in theory stay dry or drier than inner pitch first type tent.
2. Hawthorn has a 'room' bit at the front that can be used as 'changing'/storage of kit area. Vital with scouts as the 'boots off in the porch' rule is easier to enforce and lowers the risk of mucky boots dirtying everyones kit in the tent.
3. Blackthorn has higher HH - although our existing tent has 2000 HH like the hawthorn and the lads did get a tad damp on one camp next to a reservoir in the Beacons, but that may have been down to them not checking their guy ropes and ensuring the tent was taut!
Either would do the job admirably.
Here's where Fanny's amazing skills of discussion/persuasion and out and out being a thoroughly bloody nice bloke come to the fore when hammering the deal with Highlander...
You could also mention to them that when we re-do the website, both themselves and LZ will get generous splashing of logo's. Also, we attend some biggish camps such as the Malvern Challenge, where I haven't seen many Highlander tents - its mostly been Go Outdoors specials (Hi Gear/Gelert), some Vangos and Colemans.
Also if they have a flag, we'd fly it alongside our Troop flag when on camp.
Cracking idea this, i was in the cubs and scouts years ago.
Can i donate still? how do i go about it?

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Pontyslapper first had to explain this, I'd like to imagine something like this.
There's this bunch of people that I know, well I don't really know them, in fact I've never met most/any of them and possibly never will
anyway
they all drive Land Rovers, well some don't but most do but some drive different Land Rovers like Gaylanders, I mean freelanders, Discoveries and even Range Rovers but some don't even own a Land Rover
anyway
they're from all over the Country, no i don't mean Wales, well I don't even mean country because some are from overseas
anyway
These people were collecting money for no particular reason, well, actually because one of them had said that they should, no seriously they had no reason in mind and I just asked for the money - and they said yes.
No, I'm not making it up no, I haven't robbed the Post Office and am trying to cover it up - honestly this bunch of total strangers are buying us ten tents - no I haven't robbed a tent shop
No, I haven't been smoking whacky baccy, honestly we're getting ten tents from a bunch of total strangers.
Oh sod it, just wait and see -
- tell you what, I'll bet you a tenner that the tents turn up.
then I'm going to post on Landyzone saying "I've got a tenner going spare" and we'll see what happens!!!!!
Dogsbody, were you in the school hall during the 125th anniversary presentation when I had the conversation with Terry (GSL) - because you've pretty much summed it up albeit with a typical LZ comedy streak!!
He still doesn't believe it even though I've shown him the thread. Mind you he is a cynical old bugger who's had loads of offers down the years which fail to materialise.
