That's the passion switch for my misses:D:D:D:D:D:D

A couple or so of you managed to work it out.....

Post 1 = Speech from Hamlet - 'Once more unto the Breach dear Friend' - we prepare to do battle again etc etc
Post 4 = Charleston - The colour is Charleston Green
Post 5 = it is fitted with 18" Hurricane alloys
Post 6 = She is a Limited Edition model (as stated on the V5C)
Post 8 = She has the County wheel arch kit fitted (Black plastic guards!)
Post 16 = I love Land Rovers, I cannot hide from the truth that lies within me - I am Land Rover through and through
Post 19 = Pegasus was the codename of the P38A project
Post 24 = The first guy is Charles Spencer King (and if I have to tell you who he was, you shouldn't be owning a Range Rover!), the middle guy is John Hall, he was the P38A Project Manager, and the last guy is George Thompson - he was the Design Manager on the P38A project.
Post 26 = Lucas electronics are abound on the P38A and are notorious....
Post 28 = Todays date, the date I picked her up!
Post 36 = I now have to dust off the copy of RAVE and keep it as bedtime reading to get reacquainted with the P38A
Post 39 = The final clue (if you hadn't already got it by then) is the location of Block 38A where the P38A was designed and developed (hence its designation!)

So, yes, after 7 months of gut wrenching lack of Range Rover ownership, I have finally got my hands on another - I just can't keep away.

And how could anyone who knows me seriously suggest is was going to be an oil burner - it was discussed with the other half and she said, if you don't get a V8 and go for the diesel in 6 months you will only start moaning at me again that you miss owning a V8.....so a V8 it was to be.

And here she is.....

1st August 1998, 4.6 HSE, 109k miles, Parchment Leather, Charleston Green Metallic colour, 18" Hurricane Alloys, and multi-point LPG (needs work!)....

Known issues so far after driving her over 130 miles so far today:

Front Passenger Door doesn't open from the inside release handle
Air Con needs gassing
A Pillar trim is tatty
B Pillar trim is on its way to being tatty
Rear Headling is a tad saggy
Drivers Door window regulator clicks at the top of its travel
With 18" Alloys, she wanders a bit, so playing with tire pressures is needed
Tailgate gas struts weak

She has had new air bags all round, rear brake lines have been done, front screen has been replaced following a stone chip, Replacement EAS Compressor, new disks and pads all round.

She was bought unseen, from Ebizzle as a bung a bid on and see what happens kind of affair and I was the only bidder, she was mine for the princely sum of £1k....Now just need to flog the BMW 740 to pay for her (well pay my dad back who lent me the grand in the first place!)

Picked her up this afternoon and drove the 116 miles back with no issues, and the deep growl from the exhaust is music.....dribble dribble.....fecking happy...

Congratulations on your new relationship. Are you just going for the civil ceremony rather than marriage. Does the same job but will ge one of the few times 'civil' will be used in the union ;)
Happy Motoring buddy :D:D

Well done looks nice not many in that colour that I have seen, its got the nice stereo system fitted and looks like its had the later seats fitted:):):)

Looks like you got a bit of a bargain there! Good luck with it.
Mine was only cheap (not as cheap as yours though) but it's served me well so far.

LPG system now works.

It is an OMVL Dream XXI-NG with the HP vapouriser.

There seemed to be odd vacuum and gas pressure connections made.

In the system is a pressure switch that gets connected to the gas injector rails and also a vacuum port that connects to the vap diaphram and inlet manifold, this measures and compensates for inlet manifold vacuum pressures.

For an odd reason the rail pressure line had been tee'd into the vacuum line on the switch, but there was no vacuum connection from the manifold to the vap or the switch.

A quick stop off at Halfords for some vac pipe and a tee piece and connected the vacuum port on the switch to the vap diaphram port and took the ma ifold vacuum from the rocker cover breather port on the side of the intake plenum and tee'd into that.

Checked the tank had some gas in it, pressed the change over switch gave it a rev aand she switched over nicely.....

54.9p a litre running here we go....result.

Working lpg your new motor is getting better and better for the money, no doubt you will have it all tip top in no time.:)

Yep...she is working well so far....not sure how long she hadn't been run on LPG for as the port on the front of the vap looked like it hadn't had a pipe on for quite some time....and God only knows why whoever last worked on her connected the Vacuum switch port to the Rail Pressure Port and removed the Vap vacuum to manifold pipe as it is all wrong, no wonder the guy I bought it from said the LPG system doesn't work so he never used it - he had it for 2-3 years before I bought it, and it still had 60% full tank according to the tank mounted gauge!!

She was a tad stuttery at first on gas, and at odd moments she hiccuped but kept going on gas, so I can only assume the filters could do with a change, as well as doing the rubber diaphram in the vap too....the run in to work on the M3 this morning was faultless and she ran nicely - but it might pay to get the LPG system re-calibrated just to make sure.

Just need to look at the cruise control vacuum pipes next, then the door window regulator, inside passenger door release and the tailgate struts, then give her a bloody good fluids and filters service and take it from there.
