2003 (03) Freelander TD4
1951 cc
but is it
80kW 109 BHP
or
82kW 112 BHP

I know overall its really wont make a huge difference, but it would be nice to know as when looking at tuning boxes from different places they all ask the same..is it one or the other, and as I don't know I feel it could be dangerous to guess..

Thanks in advance for advice,,

Best advice is, don't worry what BHP the damn thing is, just count yer blessings each day it works. :D

I think I have found the answer and I should share it with others that like me always find the answer after asking the question,,

It would seem that the TD4 auto is 109bhp and with manual box is 112bhp.

Mind you I think I am a little dubious as if its the same engine they are both 112bhp,
just the auto will put out slightly less at the wheels or fly wherever this is measured on a Td4..

and your 2 links prove they are the same Bhp..;)

Thanks very much..

Yawn ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

They have differing measurements for the v6 too. Me thinks the difference is BHP against PS.

my old one td4 auto 2001 model would go to 115 this one 2006 td4 auto will go just about 100mph

My 2004 TD4 Auto can easily top 100 (a tad over 4000rpm) even fully/over loaded and with a big roof-box. I seldom push the revs over 3500 as I prefer to cruise the autobahnen at around 85mph.

I've never tried to see what the absolute top speed would be, cause it doesn't matter how fast one goes the Porsches keep snapping at your heels, and the company cars - mostly big Audis with blackened windows go past in a constant stream.

I like/need the extra power the Synergy gives me more for acceleration - to pass trucks etc. and to be exposed to danger for the minimum length of time in the faster/overtaking lanes.

Singvogel.

Still 1 more than a V6 with a bank of cylinders off due to Head gasket failure.:)

Sadly the V6 does suffer HGF in the Freelander :( it's got to be cooling related as it's almost unheard of in the ZS180 unless the cooling system has been neglected!! I'v recently found out the radiator for V6 is the same 4 cylinder 1.8!! That could be the reason?? HGF or not the V6 still goes and sounds better than the diesel ;)

To know for sure what bhp you have is easy, have the engine chipped and ask a result on their testbench.:D (I have the standard engine for the 2001 Td4 Steptronic + 30 extra hp's, so whether it is 138 or 142 is the least of my concern, also the top speed is of no interest to me, all I want, and have, is the easy driving. As already said before both the engine and the box prefer the higher Nm and bhp compared to what they had before).

The stat starts to open at 82 degrees and int fully open until 102 degrees according to rave. On mine my hawkeye ses the fans come on at 109 degrees and go off at 106 degrees. Rave says on at 105 and off at 102.
