Hi I'm thinking of getting a disco 200tdi as a everyday car and fun the car I have in mind has all off road mods but was wondering what it's going to be like as a everyday car also any help thanks

Hello and Welcome,

Depends on lots of things. Can you handle it being off the road if it breaks down while off roading? how may miles do you do daily? do you like luxury, off roaders tend not be the most luxurious. Do you need to keep the inside nice and clean for your workclothes? Road manners on a big tyred 4x4 tend not to be the best, at the end of the day it all depends on how much you are prepared to live with on your daily driver.

Cheers

Thanks for reply I have 5 children so keeping the car clean inside is always a task haha I drive buses for a living so I think I will be OK with it daily and don't do a lot of miles until I get time off. What will the fuel be like with off road mods

I would expect you could get 25 to 30 from a modified Disco 2 200tdi . Maybe a little more if driven carefully. Off road mods will only make a small difference.

Any reason why you are getting this 200tdi? 300 tdi's are more plentiful. As with any of these cars, just make sure if you are not sure what you are looking at then take someone along who does and can help check it over.

Off road modified vehicles tend to either belong to someone who thrashes the hell out of it on a weekend and then does nothing in the week, or Someone who spends a lot of time fixing and repairing them to make sure they are up to 100%.

Cheers

The price looks good I think lol he wants 1100 for it with 145 miles 5 inch lift ect and says no rot but I got to view it Thursday so hopefully will be as pictured and described what interior options is there for a straight fit leather

A vehicle with a 5" lift will drive like a pig on the road, and probably off road too.

Strongly suggest you try driving a lifted vehicle before buying one. Rarely needed and many disadvantages.

Sorry, what do you mean by interior options?

also , you may want to change your location to something a little more general.

Cheers

Oh, also, be aware that a 5 inch lift can be a PITA as a daily driver. imagine trying to get the kids in, climb in yourself.
It makes a big difference to the vehicle and as Turboman says, not necessarily a good one.
Cheers

Worth having a look, it may be a corker and you may love it.

There are plenty of others around, so having a look will always be god practice for the future.

Cheers

Could he mean something else as to 5 inch lift if you get what I mean because on pics it doesn't look very high looks the same as some 2inch lifts I've looked at

OK thanks for all advice I will keep u guys posted if I decide to buy haha kinda put off now lol

Try a standard Disco. :)

They are a good drive, very useful off road, fuel economy isn't too bad for a big thing.

If after a few years you still want to modify it, it is easy enough, but you can do it in small steps rather than jump straight in with a 5 inch lift.

Appearance will depend on wheel size and bodywork as well as suspension height.

Try and post some pics of any you are interested in for us to have a look. Underside and underbonnet pics too!

This is the disco
