someone tell me if this is worth buying... for recovery purposes:

Come on Ryder get serious mate.

These are used to lift engines out using an "a" frame and you can feel the weight with every pull of the handle.

The advertised "4 ton pull" is used by cheap winch manufacturers to describe the weight of a "rolling load" that is, what this can pull on the flat. The actual load is very much less than this amount. I bet you are lucky to have 250kgs lift rating on something like this.

No way on gods earth the cable is rated anything like 4 tons! LOL.

got bmw v8 as well
its rock solid and can go quite quickly (160 on german roads)
but again not a green laner
my alfa 75 was a quick car for its time 140 on a motorway once ( not in britain) but it was modified
my defender 110 however is quite a perky performer on lanes but struggles on motorways
as an old gimmer now of course i do not drive at these speeds because according to posts anyone at my age should have their driving license taken away anyway

I've got one of those and a Mayflower. Must get it working, I think I've got enough bits to make it work. If not it's ebay for them and I'll buy an electric one.

Very similar to the one I had....

It sat in the boot for over 2 years, but...

It did ok to me... There was this one time I got stuck... Worth its weight in gold those two days...

Its ****ed now though...

Fookin Ell If your wanting 5K for your fender whats one worth with a bulkhead and door?? Hehe. If thats the case I reckons mines pushing 8K with no welding to chassis ever, rear locker and a good bulkhead (and an attached door)! what you reckon? Any takes £8K could do with a bit of paint tho Lol!

I had a quick go at it last week. Managed to unbend the Z shaped bit of wing with g-clamps and lengths of wood so it points roughly downwards, but its stll fairly crumpled. When I get some more time I'll try annealing it and beating the larger lumps out of it, but instead of doing that I ended up sorting my indicators instead. It turned out not to be a bulb or dodgy earth for once, but a problem with the 12V feed. I'm assuming it was a loose bullet connector (I was getting voltage, but no current flow) but I coudnt find it, so ended updoing a re-wire instead. I havent pressure washed it since we went out so it wasnt a fun job with lumps of mud falling in my face when I was running the new cable down the top of the chassis member.
