Hey just got my tyres from glenn Jeez they looklikethey are gonna kick some seriously muddy ass!
Can't wait for the weekend to show just how seriously stuck a disco can get even with big f**** off tyres too play with!
Don't worry, if you do 40 foot, you'll be stuck alright.:D

Spyderman,

Sounds like you're making good progress, the weather doesn't help I'll bet. Will look forward to seeing the beast when it's finally running again.
It's getting there, but you're right, the constant rain is becoming a real pain.
The Seats are done, apart from a bit of welding. I splashed out and bought a new leather steering wheel too. It's really quite comfortable inside now.:D

Now you're delusional, a Series being described as "quite comfortable":p

I think you may have been spending too much time on this and you should seek professional help:D either that or perhaps drink less LOL.

I wish I had the time to drink. It's been flat out work so far. Day job, then work on it till it's dark. Biggest thanks to DB, he's a star.:D
but, it really is quite comfortable. The Cobra 60's Classic Bucket Seats, are really supportive, yet comfortable too. I took a long while working out seating position and heights, before making up subframe. The seats are set raised 1" higher at the back, than the front, which allows them to go back slightly further, due to the rake of the seat and the bulkhead behind.

Shall i wait for a phone call? haha i have bedford and northants maps if you cant get them off spyder.

Yea as spyderman says: Expect a phone call about 4pm but you may need a winch, gravity defying liquid, a 60 tonne recovery tank, and an overnight bag!! Ryder Loves to get himself stuck so hard that not even a 4x4 tractor would risk getting near his mota. Can't knock his enthuisasm he loves it! Me thinks Ryder and his family have more enthuisasm than most of us! Jai

Either that or blind faith!

Getting stuck is half the fun in my view.:D we don’t spend hundreds of pounds on winches just cos they look good a. If the lane is a challenge, 40ft for example then that lane will push your skills and the vehicles capability to the limit when you reach that limit there is an army of people and equipment around to recover you. Its all fun and games :D :D

True enough Glenn.

However, there is "stuck" and then there's "stuck and busted". Stuck ain't too bad provided there is enough help about. Stuck and busted aint so funny coz it gets expensive if you know what I mean.

lol true but money dont bother me long as i have a smile on me face and mud on me boots im happy.

Remember ONE LIFE LIVE IT :D

With all this rain we've had this week 40ft will defo b a challenge! Don't forget the ditch halfway up near the little fence on the left side. RYDER, keep the foot down and keep momentum going coz u will get very stuck if you come to a halt. IF and when you get to the grass the other end stick to the left coz the ruts stopped Kev dead !

I'll review it before I drive it. Probably won't drive it because the wife has threatened me with divorce if I do. This close to baby coming it's probably not good to argue too much!

I used to get stuck regularly, a standard Series III is capable, but has some serious limitations, namely ground clearance under the spring hangers and total lack of power. Now I've sorted those shortcomings out, things that would have easily stopped me dead are now effortless. I only got slightly stuck once in 40 foot and that was because I tried the deepest bombhole in the lane. I'm not saying it's boring, but it's certainly not as challenging doing the stuff I'm used to in the past. It's nice to be able to do the hard stuff though, without knowing that I won't make it.
It'll be nice to have the winch working too, so I can go out anytime without worrying about getting stuck.

Ryder, while the baby is too small, you could do worse than picking up a cheap diesel Series. You'll learn loads about how to drive off road without relying on loads of power all of the time.
