Is it much work to get it in. what you got to do with the engine mounts and prop shafts? Will make a start on that box tomorrow, got to fit it in round welding on the SJ, thought i had a bit of a hole in the floor, turns out i've got a bit of floor in a massive hole.
 
Kris, DB is going to fit new Piston Rings, Seals, Gaskets, Timing Belt and Tensioner, whilst it's out. To fit, it looks like O/S Engine Mount needs fabrication to miss Injector Pump, Battery will move to under seat, Exhaust looks like it will need some mods, Air Filter will need a home, together with fitting Raised Air Intake that I've bought. Will swap Thermostat Housing from old engine, so that I can use Series Rad. Fit Electric Fan to Rad, as there's not enough room for fan on pulley. Electrics to fuel stop solenoid. So not much really.:eek: 200tdi is a lot more work. Couldn't do it without DB's expert help, he's a star.:D

Hi Kris,

I know exactly what you are saying. Pain in the proverbials I know, I was just going to repair a small hole under the spare wheel and ended up doing much more. Mind you it's not as bad as my neighbours Disco, that has virtually no floor left!

Have extended the breathers and fixed the snorkel, just need a short length of flexible hose and I'm good to go (I hope).

Hey folks.... just bought the tent for the salisbury weekend. 12 to 14 sleeper! Bleedin great... gonna take a team of huskies to get it there and a scaffolding crrew to erect it I reckon!

We're taking a gazebo as well, with a plan to use it for the inevitable cook up on the saturday night.

Does anyone have a bbq they could take with them.... our one might not be enough.

Not sure of the numbers involved. Gibbo Phil, girlfriend, and little brother dan (saff's potential new romantic interest) are in... as are rose me and the kids of course, Luke Landy Rangie and two friends, Leonburger and Beth, DiscoB, Spyderman, Glenn_321... I seem to remember that Kris was in too but can't properly recall that.

A minimum of 9-10 vehicles thus far. Is this turning into a monster outing? I hope so 'cos this might well turn out to be our annual vacation!

DiscoB, do you think we will have problems booking more pitches if we need them?
 
I am sure Jai_Landrover was coming too so that's 10-11 vehicles.

BTW Jai... saw the pic of your motor at Auto Land.... called in there just after yourdad was there the other day. It looked very clean... must be staged!

Good to hear the spydermobile will be up and running soon, I'm not so sure about these 36 inch tyres though! Been playing with my 2.2 inch tyres today I just couldn't bring myself to start the 90 in this heat! So I got out the 'toys in progress box and had a play. Jai

There's a great bonus to this too... I am driving a landrover and Phil has a Frontiera. Perhaps I might avoid being the brunt of all the ribbing... it may be another's turn!

Mind you he is gonna have to go some way to beat 29 hours I know! AND he may have a frontiera but he has a distinctly un pregnant girlfriend (as far as I know of course). So he doesn't have to stop when the going gets bouncy!

My mota looked clean, Never! actually that was before getting it covered with the lea valley club greenlaning in Cambs good bunch It must be said! better that some other local clubs, Jai.
 
Jai, those photos are great! Do you have remote control versions? I'd love to see them and Iknow that Kai would be really fascinated too!

I have to say I am stillnot sure about the whole "club" thing. I have little experience in the off road circuit but my experience of clubs in the past has been politics/arguing/personality clashes/committees/general meetings/annual General Meetings/subscriptions and general bollocks.

Don't you think that what we seem to have going here is so much better? Not organised as such... but a whole lot of people willing to help eachother out wherever possible and have a good time into the bargain?
 
Ah! Now another question.

I met an offroader tonight who was talking about the Ridgeway being open to traffic for 42 out of its 60 oddmiles. Have you heard anything like this?

If you have a free evening sometime I know Kai would love to see them being driven! Don't feel obliged or anything but if you are planning to pilot them soon just let us know so that I can bring him along
 
I think the Club thing is to avoided at all costs. It means someone has to be arsed to do something all the time, politics and disagreements I think what we are doing is perfect. I am a menberof loads of clubs, our last rc flying club had to split because of some old farts not wanting to include everybody. What we have is great.

If I can get my truck built hopefully this week, he can have a quick drive. I can't let him loose with Andys stuff as some of it has taken him months to build scale.
