13th Jan I thought,

Carpy you found any cheap salisbury axles yet? I still need both hub caliper assys? not bothered about diff or diff internals.

not yet mate, i may just replace the diff and whatever has gone wrong. i am thinking of throwing al ocker in anyway so it may well make more sense me keeping my current diff

Depends whats wrong with your current diff if anything. I doubt the internal diff gears are worn, its more likley that the crownwheel/pinion have some slack due to wear if you are still sure it is still has too much wear. In that case its a full rebuild with either new parts and lots of time shiming testing and re shimming can be done but lots of people are not happy doing this and send it off to a specialist. Replacing the internal gears with a locker won't help if the slack is present in the crown wheel/pinion.

Well If you hear of any cheap even broken salisbury axles going that are disk braked axles (must be the bolt on caliper bracket type and not later welded type) I am looking for one failing that its £130 for parts to build my one up to spec.

Hi Carpy mate, sorry i missed your call today was well busy down the workshop sorting stuff on the Disco to get the 35's to fit, all sorted now. Think Mark said that part for your series is coming in tomorrow, CHEERS.

yep true enough i guess - i think it is slack so wouldnt help hugely.

will see, i will be chucking it off the road for a little while anyway to do some mods, alterations and probably / possibly a paint job on it so i will work it out then!

i take it then that you have the 35's in your possession?

good stuff, look forward to seeing it in action with the new tyres, that will be a bloody capable machine now!

Collected them yesterday and got them fitted to the rims this morning. Had to re-cut the angles on the rock slidders, modified the spare wheel carrier to take the larger wheel and fitted the new spot lights. Still got a few little things to do, but nearly there now.

I would have been up for the new year jaunt, but unfortunately have discovered the ongoing water issues have surfaced as a core plug failure. Of course it is the one behind the exhaust manifold.....

Have a Happy New Year all....

Count me out too I went out last night well this am and my CV is propperly bollixed I feel a trip to derbyshire comming on Saturday Morning early!

I just got a new external hard drive that I can't afford and still have to get the Disco in for a check and service. Hoping to get out again soon though.

Well guys... woke up this morning to a cup of tea and Kai explaining that because I had mentioned the wheel bearing needed tightening up (fitted a few weeks ago), he had lifted the car, stripped out the hub... tensioned the wheen bearing according the the manual torque specs... re-assembled it and can we go out please.

If this is what happens when I sleep... I am gonna sleep some more!

Now just the landy to get on with tomorrow!
