Did you trundle anywhere?

No I finally took the cover off the Series I, Looks pretty good, but quite a lot to be done to get it how I'd like it. No rust is the big bonus. I've found out why there was rubber covering the bulkhead vents, they're now unusable because of having a 2.6 straight six in it, the bonnet and front panel sit higher obscuring the vents. Didn't notice when I picked it up in the dark. Bonnet sits about 3" higher than normal resting on custom ali filler panels. Looks OK though.

I'm hoping I can free the siezed clutch as I don't fancy pulling the engine out, it's huge:eek: The block is mahusive.

yu could allus pull the gearbox instead?? or drive the series around with the pedal pressed to the floor and then release the pedal and stamp on the brakes a couple of times. That'll shift em sometimes.

I've had advice to get the engine hot, drive it in second gear, then hit the brakes and accelerator at the same time and wait for the bang, whilst trying not to crash at the same time.

Spyderman.

The bang you hear might be the layshaft exploding out from your gearbox if you use 2nd!!!

For christ sake do the accelerating in 4th gear HR only!!!

The engine power is the same no matter what gear you are in and that is what will free your clutch plate.

Using a lower gear means you develop more torque through the gearbox so you will accelerate faster, put more strain on the drive shafts and the brakes will have a harder time trying to stop you!!! The engine torque remains constant.

Oh and 4th is your strongest gear so you shouldnt blow your layshaft out the bottom of your gear box!!!

You can try using the starter motor first. Use 4th gear. Stamp on the brakes and clutch and try starting the car. If it is a mild siezure it will free with this method. Oh yea. Make sure there is nothing in front of you should you not be able to stop the car and the clutch staying stuck!!! I have heard of many a garage door being hit...

Good luck.
