Just to stimulate conversation:

I was re reading some old 4 x 4 mas a few minutes ago while enjoyin the relative peace and tranquility of my downstairs loo. The one I had was running a review of Devils Pit. It stated that Devils Pit would be the idel place to train off road driving prior to an overland trip.

Where would you be going to encounter that level of clay? Are they right or am I missing something?

it failed on dripping oil. it made a puddle 3 inch dia in bout 3 mins lol. so nt gd, crankshaft oil seal gone. could try puttin a drip tray under it. i was thinkin sell it off and go for something more modern, a disco perhaps? what are they like off road when set up as a practical veh/off roader?

thanks guys, have a good day!

Rear main seal has gone on my motor too. Bugger of a job by all accounts but it is one tht I think I will pay someone else (DB) to do since he will take half the time and make sure it is done properly.

Even though it is a bad job, once it is done you know it is another job that has een completed and shouldn't bother you for a while. Go long enough and you'll have a motor with all the jobs done (the week before they start going again!)

Had my Disco 3 years now and have modified it to deal with most stuff over that time and i have been really happy with it. Disco or Defender not a lot in it, main thing will be that a Disco will be about £1000-£1500 cheaper to buy on the same year, but if you intend to fit large wheels a bit more work and money is involed to fit them to the Disco as they do not have as much wheel clearance as a standard Defender.

Just thought I would say thanks to Brett for organising a great day of lanes, and we even managed to get a pub lunch.

Lots of mud and only one person needed a tow.

Thanks for a great day and an early bath to finish it.

Andy
Ps. Nice to meet the rest of you aswell

I would very much like to also say a big thank you to Brett for organising a great day out. Sorry I had to leave early and I hope to catch up will you all again soon

A good day guys. Disco1, Andy's right, you wouldn't of made the next lane without damage I don't think.
Really went for it in Violets Lane on the second run, had a massive shower of water right over the roof. The inside of Phil's motor needed bailing out afterwards.
The lane with the ruts is where Ryder had one of his extended stays, so you didn't do too bad Phil only needing a little tug.

Nice day guys. I just got a couple of pics from when we stopped to free up Phil.
