Hertfordshire Lanes?????

AFAIK it is completely standard. Certainly on road tyres and not lifted. What sort of times would the run be and would the car be able to cope with the fords?

My motor is out of the box, V8 (so it doesn't like water) and it handles these fords without any problem. I've not seen anyone get stuck in them yet but you always have the option to duck out. No one will thik any less of you if you look at a situation and decide its not for you. My guess is that once you;ve watched the others go through you'll be itching to give it a try too.

It would be a really good idea to buy some Jate rings from somewhere like Scorpion racing (£15 each I think). They will allow your vehicle to be recovered safely and are easily fitted.

Hi everyone, i'm meeting up with a few people tomorrow evening to do some of the Surrey lanes, if anyone is up for a bit of a drive down this way and want to tag along, let me know and i will sort out the full details, you will need to be near Box Hill for about 7.30PM.

Jeez Kris... would love to join you but money and a meeting dictate otherwise. Have a great evening out!:(

Thank you to all for the welcomes and advice. I have checked and the first weekend I could definately do is 22/23 November. I may be able to do the weekend before as well depending.

I will purchase some Jate rings before laning as per Ryder's advice.

Hi all would love to join you sunday but dont think ill make it down any lanes (works high top lwb sprinter :D )

Think my motor is basicly dead now wanna get myself either a deffender 90 or disco just cant afford anything

Hey Kev... could I call on your guidance on Saturday if you're not too busy. Just to look into this throttle seal thingy problem with me. Don't need you to do thye job necessarily, just to be there when I screw it up!

Well im now in the out of service club, front wheel bearing went in spectacular fassion today. locked the whole front drivers side wheel up, sending me on to the opposite side of the road into on coming traffic and left a nice long skid mark along the road, fortunately, no injuries or damage.
after being recovered i bought all the parts to attempt to fix it, and guess what? its all welded and stuck together nicely! seeing as i havent got a clue what im doing or how to fix it i will be off the road untill DB can come and fix it on Monday. bit of a bummer for me as this is my every day car so am also car-less!
S*** Day!!

Dan

Jesus you must have some sound system! Wheel bearings don't half make a noise well before welding themselves together! To lock a 750 tyre up solid its got to have got mighty hot give your diff a once over if it locked at speed too!!!

If I were you I would check all of them as some idiot trained fast fit guy may have done them all them up tight as per cars and not Landys. Jai

i got told when my wheel bearing went on my rangey i was lucky as if it had welded locked it would be a new axle case not sure how true it is or if its just garage bull sh!t

Depends. It is possible I suppose that it twists the axle end around slightly where the hub assembly bolts on (6 or 7 bolts early/late type) that would make your hub assembly running at the wrong angle of dangle castor etc and could make it un driveable to be honest wheel bearing failure don't happen suddenly they get worse and worse and should be noticed fairly soon as you did Rangie.

Mine went comming home from Salisbury, but it had been noisy for a long time just I didn't have the equipment to hand when it was needed, that was my failure, although some quick thinking a form of oil and a quick strip rebuild by the side of the road using whatever was to hand got me home from Swindon and around for a few days before it needed to be fixed.

I would imagine that if Dan's wheel seized it could have caused more damage,
I would be looking closely at:

Stub axle,
bearings,
seals,
axle alignment.
diff,
drive shafts
C.v.
water in axle (especially after all the wading we have done)

After all this has been checked then I would start to rebuild it with new parts. Jai

looks like im missing out again, were off in the caravan. so the rangey has been sat outside the house collecting dust although its been pressed into service as my daily car since the new disco broke down too! been at Land Rover in Welwyn, new steering box and engine wiring loom complete!!!!! all under Land ROver warranty thank fu ck, would deffo be up for some more night lanes though
