I thought you might enjoy that! That river is flowing much faster than it was when we were there. Better safe than sorry I guess!

Spyderman, the 900's looks the dogs I think you will benifit no end from longer LWB military spring hangers, thats what the 1 tons had I think they are approx 1.5 inch longer giving you a slight lift they are cheap to get from paddocks and considered the norm for series mods for offroading. Jai

jai Just had a look at paddocks, looks like that could be a good upgrade and maybe avoid the need to trim the front wings.

yea there is no need to cut any bodywork. 900s were fitted as standard to the 1 tonne landys the only differance was they had a strongerdrive train salisbury axles and a gearbox/transfer box with different ratios (slightly lower) ideally you need the longer spring hangers and the offset rims as used on the 1 tonne.

Started to strip my salisbury rear axle yesterday just waiting to borrow a spreader wednesday evening to get the diff out check the condition and replace the bearings then its full steam ahead! Im well impressed with design and how strong it is! Bloody heavy but some nice strong shafts! I reckon i could fit 36 inch tyres without the problem of breaking shafts.

Jai

Is it a disc brake axle Jai?
They are so very strong mate compared to standard and they give the 90's the extra weight they need on the arse end. Mine had disco axles in and I found the rear to be too light especially in deep water. With the 33's I could easily lose rear wheel traction in deeper water even with 20psi all round. It was a conversion I considered if I was gonna keep my 90.

Rover diffs and shafts are just a wee bit like toffee when you fit larger than standard tyres, that said Ive never broken a shaft with the exception of one offside inner at whaddon after winching out a dead td5 defender. it was unlucky there was no real strain on it. I also believe that genuine shafts are much stronger than the cheap ones you see at the shows

Anything mechanical is always genuine on my landys. Don't care about the extra few quid mate as I want quality not crap. At least with the genuine stuff youve got a guarantee not like the copy ****e. Fitted a cam belt kit to a 300 disco I once owned and the tensioner pulley failed after 90 miles and smashed the top end. Fought like hell to claim with the supplier but was told I had fitted it incorrectly and it was down to me. I have worked for an independant Landy garage and fitted lots of cambelts etc so it wasnt me but got nowhere with the company (very large well known, advertise in mags etc).
Its a false economy most of the time. I know the parts guys at a couple of main stealers now very well and they always give me good service and know what they are talking about. Never had any genuine parts fail on me and I do drive my motors hard.
Rant over :)

yea i must admit i pick and choose what genuine and what ****eparts i will use. im a regular at autoland and my gf step mum works in the parts department at our local dealer. My bro has quite a good grasp on what to get and what not to! Landy mechanic for many years. I remember we took 4 clutch slave cylinders apart strip and rebuild as the were full of sworf. Saving up for a zeus timing gear kit next, its a tad noisy but trouble free once fitted definatly worth the money if just for peace of mind when going abroad Jai

I have looked at them and must admit that they are a fit and forget item. Just been in garden and found 2 of my insa's flat. They look like theyre not sat right on the bead so will have to find someone local with a decent compressor to blow em up. Local tyre place seems to be full of wingers! Used to be a manager of kwik-fit many years ago but that was another town and a long time ago. Must buy myself a decent windybox when funds alow. Would be nice to find a cheap workshop local aswell but cheap and workshop don't mix so plod on in my garden. How much are the zues gear sets now mate?

I saw them advertised for £650 but i guess they are cheaper now though.

My Local tyre garages hate me when you mention the word balance they screw their face up into a ball followed by er.....ill see what i can do. I get all my tyres done by a garage in houghton regis where my mate works reasonable guys always been good to me Jai

Just used my 12v compressor and found the beads leaking on both so they might need a bit a seal in em. The zues gears even at £650 are not too bad when you consider a cam belt change at most dealers is 4-500 quid.
