Yeah I love scrappies, I am tryna make some space to start a mini one at the back of the garden!

I have been stockpiling a few bits too, as my mate broke a classic recently but I will ask you is I need some.

Trouble I have is that like my autobox recently its the labour that kills you, I had to get (tomorrow) a recon one fitted as the labour of fitting is much worse if it doesnt work first time its all got to come out again.

My classic aint that cheap to run as it uses so much feckin fuel!
do you not fit your own stuff?:confused:

cant you get someone to help you to do it yourself :D

Often I do my own bits , see my pics for some of the sheet metal I have done. Obviously I do fair bit of mechanical too, but although I had some great offers of help which I was most gratefull for, I managed to get such a good deal on a recon box supply and fit that I couldnt say no, it was half price- and I have some come back then too!

Also its a question of time, for us all, isnt it!

Are the plugs for the fuel rail temp and coolant temp swapped?
Holy Sh*t Eightinavee, you might just have nailed my problem!!!

Off the top of your head do you know which colour plug goes on which? At the moment the green plug is on my coolant sensor and the brown plug is on the fuel one. My coolant temp never gets above 40 on faultmate just as you've said. And my gut feeling is that its running very rich.

You got it in one Eightinavee, I owe you a :beer2:

Plugs are reversed on the sensors!

You're living up to your reputation :praise:
Bloody hell - didnt know I had a reputation on here, maybe for being a miserable git !
Glad its sorted anyway.;)

Didnt even look like the plugs on mine would fit on each others tabs.

When I get it back from the autobox place on wednesday I will have a look!

Got a reply back from the supplier, thay say they can return them under warrenty for me , I have asked for the deatils, I think I will still write to Lucas and see what they say!

Got the calssic back from the autobox specailist today, works a treat!

£800 lighter in the pocket now though

Open wallet surgery leaves a long lasting pain in your pocket. A good dose of painkillers help. Jack Daniels do some pretty strong over the counter ones as do Jim Beam and glen Fiddich.
Oh and the chassis turned up

unfortunately I find it dulls the pain of life,While not an alcoholic I'd be the first to agree I'm finding life hard at the moment beer the answer:doh:

Beer is ok, as you can drink a goodly amount before having to hold on to the floor.

And the chassis isn't too bad. One rot spot, but thats only on the tank mount plate. Soon replace that.

Goodish tyres, all the brakes look ok. The self leveller thing isn't leaking so a good spare.
Anybody want a crude oil burner fuel tank?

And I'll get the poly's down to you when I have them off the chassis
