Leave them as standard, i have. you just need a cheap set of wheels that are alot thinner for the mot. sell you some cheap ;) not too far from your college!

its not the mot he needs to worry about its the old bill and vosa as there through the book at him they pull him over:rolleyes:

I may be wrong but i thought the tyres were allowed to stick up to 1cm out of the arches when looking exactly vertically down?

I run 33 12.5 r15 khumos on silver mods and standard arches which stick out about the same as yours and in the last week have had the vehicle inspected by police twice for different reasons, one even commented that the tyres look good but on neither occassion did they question the width they stick out.

IIRC it's no tread showing, outside the wheel arches. But I've also been told by an mot tester that if a straightedge is placed against the top & bottom of the tyre and it doesn't touch the wheel arch then it's illegal.

Problem with Plod is they do not know every rule and regulation concerning cars. Quite often they have to check with the station to confirm an offence has been committed before writing the ticket. Also some cops are a bit more flexible than others. What one might ignore another might use as an excuse to impound ya car,

here is one seen locally.

my mates a copper and i asked him. he said you will never get stopped by the 'normal' plod as it is not a matter they deal with. if they stop you for missing number plate or something illegal (ie expected of stealing or something) then they can add it to the list, but WILL NOT stop you specifically for it. traffic cops will though.

just a bit more info. heres mine. its a risk you can choose to run or not. i chose the risk because i am lazy! they won't take it away and crush it they will give you a producer to get it fixed and have an mot tester check it.
