I have a 2011 RR vogue 44 TD.
I live in Kent UK.
I cant find a garage or person that will fit parts supplied my me, I need 2 front structs changed and maybe an aircon compressor.
Seems like the local garages are scared of working on RR and the main dealers are laughing all the way to the bank.
any ideas, at 77 I'm too old to do work my self although I was in the trade.
 
Hi Stan , can I suggest you ring Island 4x4 at Parkwood Maidstone .on 01622-693884 speak to parts manager ash him for details of good regular mechanics near you who have good reputation. they usually know who their best busy customers "garages" are , its worth a shot !!! if no joy let me know I have a few lads down in Brighton also south east London who are reliable but may not be too near you in Dymchurch. I know a couple up on the isle of sheppy but you normally have to wait a few weeks to get your car in there always busy
 
Topic that crops up fairly regularly on other forums.
Many garages won't get involved with parts other than those they've ordered in themselves.
They've no way of knowing of the parts you're supplying are the right ones & will fit - potentially leaving them with a vehicle up on the ramp stopping them doing other work whilst you try & sort out the issue with your supplier.
If a part you've supplied fails in use then you would need to deal with the supplier under any warranty for the failed part. The supplier may want the part returned for examination before sending out a replacement. Again, vehicle stuck on ramp etc.
Many parts warranties apply to the part, not the consequential costs that may be incurred.
If your part does turn out to be faulty then the garage are going to want to charge you for the time involved removing your faulty part & fitting its replacement, which will likely be a bill of the same size. Are you going to be happy about that or would you expect them to do it for free?
If they supply & fit then it's their problem.

There it is, if it's wrong you pay. No guarantees on parts supplied by the customer.. You bought it, you sort it..
I have this conversation all the time with customers who want to supply their own parts. Mostly because they got them cheap or the parts are cheap... I've no issues with it but if it's wrong they'll pay for it either way. If it's utter shïte I can refuse it as they'll never admit the parts were crap if they fail. They'll tell everyone I fitted it....
Hmm.. Cautious they are for a reason...

Too true, it takes years to get a good reputation in the motor trade and a couple of minutes to get a bad one.
