er no, it's not fun to get stuck .. not when the chap or group leading you can't get you out for over 3 hours!

I've been stuck a few times, but only and always when I could recover myself safely .. or was with a group who could recover me, but it seems that the organisers of wild wales allowed newbies to first get stuck and second didn't have a clue how to recover them .. that is simply not fun anymore ...

Are you changing tack now because I've demonstrated that this group did allow novices to get stuck and couldn't be recovered by the principles?

Incidentally, I recently paid nothing for a two-day trip through Shropshire, down into Wales and covered some extremely gnarly lanes with two complete novices, in standard Discos, one of which had road tyres on. Yes they got slightly stuck, but yes, they were recovered or guided out with no damage and within minutes, not hours. The trip was led by 90boy, whose knowledge of terrain, access and general demeanour meant it was a great trip. See his post about Strata Florida .. he knew we'd come again .. OK, I can't go now for other reasons, but I jumped at the chance to go on one of his trips because he is so good at it!

If you think paying £55 or £110 is good value then go for it, but please, don't disrespect others by saying that what they saw was horse**** when the people you choose to go with allow novices to get irretrievably stuck and need outside help to get them out.

90boy doesn't talk horse**** (well, not about laning ;) ) and didn't lead any novices astray so much that he needed help to extricate them, your organisers did, end of.

BIG LANING GROUPS **** THE BOBBLERS OFF, THEY COMPLAIN; LANES GET CLOSED. LANE IN SMALL GROUPS OR NOT AT ALL.

Yes I know Vince and Edd, and several of the Protrax instructors and they are in it for one thing: MONEY.
Be under no illusions, you have proven yourself to be an utter tw@t who is merely bringing the end of Green Laning as a motorised pastime enjoyed by many; much, much quicker. Much as it may upset you to do so; toe the line or take the flak, you seem incapable of doing either.

Paul....you are guilty of very two dimensional thinking here. Firstly, there is no change of tack : I wanted both guidance around the route and assistance should I have got stuck. You see, our guide does this for a living and turned up in a G4 Discovery with MTs, a winch and all the recovery stuff in it. Just because you've shown me one magazine article which shows they got stuck doesn't mean that I had the same instructors nor that they don't know what they are doing. You weren't there but this magazine article now appears to be the gospel.

Oh, yes, you did by pandering to their unreasonable behaviour and it is YOU that is expediting the hobby's demise by allow them to gently squeeze you out (and us). Grow a pair man and show us these internet warrior skills in real life (if your Mum'll allow you out).

There's absolutely nothing stopping you from refraining to come into this thread. Debates often don't have a winner at the end. Normally people can agree to disagree without resorting ganging up on people. Now THAT's trolling.
